Is there a way to purchase the base game?

I am careful to invest in free games because they have vanished or been shut down on me. I love this game and want to play it for a long time. Is there any possibility it could get taken down and I would be unable to play? Or will it always be available? I'm not concerned about the early access part because I feel it is playable the way it is. What should I do?
