King's Bounty: Crossworlds

King's Bounty: Crossworlds

Is Armored Princess needed for Crossroads?
Played the off-Steam Crossroads (as well as original Armored Princess) version a while ago, and in the version I played, "Orcs on the March" campaign from Crossroads was the expanded version of Armored Princess' original campaign, making owning original Armored Princess redundant.

But since Steam’s pack includes Armored Princess along with Crossroads, and moreover, Armored Princess costs as much as Crossroads, I can’t help wondering if this is the case with Steam version? Or if the original Armored Princess is somehow needed to play Crossroads’ Orcs on the March?

I don`t believe you have to. Crossworld is A.P. with expansions. But the Steam pack is still cheaper to buy as a whole, so I wouldn`t worry about it.
Nope, AP is INCLUDED in Crossroads
I see, thank you for your replies, Talana, Sethmage!

Weird that it is included in a package then, though, as well as that it is sold for the same price as expanded Crossroads.
I don't understand... if AP and Crossroads cost the same amount, why even sell AP on steam? And for people who own AP, why do they need to pay for the game again if they want the expansion material? Here I thought this is some major expansion with tons of new gameplay and I almost bought it... until I noticed a lot of the screenshots seem really familiar and decided to investigate more.
@ Iris:

In regard of your second question, Armored Princess came out way before Crossworlds (mispelled the title originally, since precise translation from Russian is "Crossroads of Worlds"), so people who bought original Armored Princess enjoyed it quite a bit before Crossworlds came out. You can think of Crossworlds as sort of "Game of the Year" edition, it's just that its contents aren't avaliable as individual DLC.

And in regard of your first question... I am also baffled why the original Armored Princess is on Steam, when it has expanded Crossworlds version avliable for the same price. Hence this topic :freesia:

P.S.

And Crossworlds does expand the original campaign a fair bit; if you liked Armored Princess and would like to play through it again, than I'd say Crossworlds is well worth its current ~2.5$ price.

lucky you it's $5 for me womp womp

At this point the only people who would buy Armored Princess are the people who don't realize Crossworlds is the same game with more stuff in it. It seems intentionally deceptive... I don't like it. Bad 1C.

Wait, wait-wait-wait-wat. AP is INCLUDED in Crossworlds? Like, the whole entirety of it? That's... messed up. But not unprecedented. When Baldur's Gate finally came out here in Russia, Akella, the game's publisher, made separate discs for Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast expansion, but both discs had identical content. Russian game publishing industry. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Crossworlds contents:
1. Original Armour Princess
2. Champions of the Arena (Small campaign)
3. Defender of the Crown (Small campaign)
4. Orcs on the March (Armoured Princess + additional: units(9), spells(13), quest(9), items(70), new skill for the hero and Adrenaline unique new feature for Orcish race.
in which order should i play the campaigns? and can i skip 1. since it is contained in 4.?
As far as I know, Champion of the Arena and Defender of the Crown are not related to King's Bounty's story at all. And there is no reason to play original Armored Princess campaign, as Orcs on the March is the original campaign with extra content added to it.

So, just play Orcs on the March; and you can play Champion of the Arena and Defender of the Crown (or not play them at all), whenever suits your fancy.

P.S.

And if you are talking about King's Bounty games overall, it is:
1) Legend
2) Armored Princess/Orcs on the March
3) Warrior of the North

You can play any of the games without playing the others, though, and still perfectly understand what is going on.

When Crossworlds was released, it was a expansion, you had to have Armored princess to play.
So if Crossworlds is now standalone, this is a new thing.

And yes, Crossworlds is just a extended Armoured princess.

i really dont get this.. i just bought the platnium pack. so i should just avoid armored princess and just play crossworlds? if so why even have it in the steam platinum pack?!
That was exactly what was baffling me as well :siegrune:

Originally, the Armored Princess was released first, and Crossworlds was released later as stand-alone expanded edition, which included all Armored Princess’ original content plus bonus content (think of it as GOTY edition).

So, yes, just play Crossworlds.
It was explained by 1C before. AP is still available to purchase because it was ported to mac(so people with apple's hardware can still buy and play it) and crossworlds is pc only.
