King's Bounty: Crossworlds

What makes King's Bounty series so popular?
I see 1C is involved, I myself have owned over 4 different 1C titles so I understand the types of games they make involving atleast inventory options and combat or usually freedom of action in gameplay. But what makes this one so good?

You ever played Heroes of Might and Magic? Imagine yourself a mix between RPG and a HOMM Turn-based Strategy game, in a fantasy/fairytale setting with a bit of humor, awesome music and overall great gameplay. That's King's Bounty for you.

hmmm oh well I never got Heroes of Might and Magic either, but the first person fighter one was cool. does it got kingdom management like HOMM then?

Not even close, you don't have castle to maintain and your army numbers is based on your leadership.
The battles however are the same, initiative, speed etc..

But coming back to your original question What it makes so popular? Why GTA is popular, why at one time, there was 12 million accounts for WoW. People like this style and play.

Bottom line, there are a lot of people who like turn-based gaming. It goes back to D&D, Betrayal at Krondor, Wizardry and Might & Magic.

The AI is pretty bad (especially the auto-combat), but the battles are good strategic challanges.

Heroes of Might and Magic is based off the original King's Bounty games. To answer OP's question, people that like turn based tactic RPGs often enjoy the King's Bounty games. They are fun games that offer a lot of play hours if you finish them. Yet they are very grindy.

The series is just a great tribute to the original Kings Bounty from 1990 which i still play to this very day, nothing else to say but it's magical.

It's a western (if you count russia as western) version of those "strategy rpgs" that are popular in japan like final fantasy tactics.

Or maybe the japanese games were inspired by the original kings bounty.

I don't particularly enjoy that kind of game but some people do!

I tried the demo and It's not bad, but I noticed you cannot autoresolve the battles. The animations become tiresome after you've seen them once. The autoresolve would be a nice feature, any ideas if I have overlooked it in the game? I was hoping you could change gameplay options for eliminating the tedious animations and have an autoresolve option. This could speed up the game, I couldn't find anything in the options menu.....

Didn't play demo for this game, but there IS auto combat in full version, (escape as well). Combat is main dish here so I don't understand why would you want to skip the main course. Plus I bet you would get losses and gold and some troops are in limited supply.

I hear what you are saying, to your very point, I agree that this is what makes a big part of the game. To be a little more clear, I was thinking more in the context of play sessions, sometimes speeding up a battle is a nice feature to have in a game of this nature. I.e. Total War, Fallen Enchantress etc....In total war you can speed up animations on the strategic map to almost instantaneous by hitting space bar. It also allows for autoresolve rather than being forced to play out every single battle which can be time consuming. I was curious if there is a way to speed up animation or disable (i realize the game has a slow/fast toggle for animations), but still to slow for my liking. Personally I would like to disable the animation aspect. An autoresolve feature would be handy in some cases, more control for the player.....

As I said, I.A. is pretty bad. Your pet dragon could use his powerful attacks against 1 level 1 troop. I understand what you are looking for, but here there is not such a feature.

There is an option to speed up the fights.
