King's Bounty: Crossworlds

King's Bounty: Crossworlds

Easy mode for a newbie at strategy games?
As the title says. I am not really into this sort of game but am intrigued.

I thought there was a mage upgrade that gave counter +1, so you max that out and all your humanoid troops can counter 4 times, and the dark knight was a humanoid troop.

not unlimited sure, but 4 counters is good enough no? Black heart let me check, I think I got something that reduces the leadership cost of black knights.

Item is called Black Helmet reduces leadership costs of black knights by 20%

let me see if the cheats work

couldn't get the item cheat to work, but the mage skill counter attack gives counter +1 per rank and at the 3rd rank allows them to counter any attack. so they'd be able to counter 4 times and counter no retailation enemies? so it would be better vs those pesky fairies.

I went back in time and looked at an archived gamefaqs post I made 7 years ago when I played this game...last?

Apparently Repair droids are dwarves. why is this important?

so repair droids can get leadership cost reduction from a variety of items. I believe there is an artifact or regalia that specifically drops it 20%, and some dwarf items that drop it for dwarves % wise.

reading that post.... I think I would equip my two items and ditch the bowmen.

get a LARGE stack of repair droids. use phantom to create a second stack to repair the first stack if it takes damage.

alot of it really depends on what items you have on hand.

There is one random upgrade from some quest on the first island(from DLC) which reward isn't translated(it's still in russian language, you can see it on my screenshots on top of this discussion, where I'm showing my Giants resistance % on the very bottom of their list) and gives random trait to all your units. Mine received "+3 counterattacks for all units in your army" when I played, kind of broken. lol

Dark Knights... Maybe not an item, but something that Moro Dark gives once you complete his quest. He's one of the waifu(companion, prolly afai renember 2nd you can get). It's a mid-game reward.

I used to use repair droids on my early game phrase, you can buy them somewhere on the 3rd island far away from the beach at water bay. summoning units are really good at taking enemies endlessly busy which gives time to your ranged units to shoot them off. AI is just stupid.

first squire, is the pirate, second squire is likely the mage and dwarf, Moro dark is all the way on elon. around the same area as the other four or five later game squires

counter-attack is fully translated in my game, you take the officer penant to the tower in the first area, you tell them to train you, they give you a quest to kill swordsmen or something, you come back the perk is unlocked and it eventually gives counter attack +3 and it works on things like royal snakes.

but its not for all your troops, just the humanoid ones. which includes neutrals like assasins, so probably includes the black knights.

also the black knights only get +15% from being attacked.

which is nice and all but hardly game changing.

Yeah, exactly. Sorry. I haven't been playing this game in ages. lmao It's rather a one-time adventure easy chillin' game for me(even on impossible) rather than something to try out multiple times. These games are pretty long tho.

Sad that steam doesn't keep your saves in a cloud or something. I lost all of my saves progress after changing my PC to a better one with new OS. Wish I still had them.
If anyone needs help with it I can sure try help him out.

My favourite army in this game was:

Inquisitor
Paladin
Red Dragon
Archmage
Runemage

Had an amazing synergy between all of this troops, making it a really strong combo that could hold against all situations, maybe except for enemies that had only-dragon armies, those were easy to pwn by using tanky black dragons only + spamming barricades and traps.

there are a few boss enemies in the game this would disappoint me with.

you don't really want to melee the various bosses that counter to an area. unless you have no retailation.

I personally cloned the crap out of my assasins to take out the driller and the big gremiln boss, maybe the spider but he didn't have as much HP.

gremlin had like 64,000 HP on normal. Driller had 8000+16000+32000 or something. ands counter attacks hit hard if you tried to melee it.

Warriors of the north adds a bunch of units, I was not displeased with the viking Jarls and warrior maidens.

So I'm about finished with Crossworlds.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1781538030

was my final army.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1781536689

was my final army post wanderer scroll temporary buffs.

I made lvl 59, probably will hit level 60 vs Baal

yeah I got 60 on Baal. according to the game, 40 hours to complete. I also did some meditating and figured I could break and reform my belt of the victor a few times to get 3 might runes with my neatness and take a final quick draw perk. before the battle with baal.

Final Rune count was 412 might runes 300 mind runes 228 magic runes.

Of course a warrior gets more damage from low-tier units - that's how the game was designed, otherwise nobody would ever use them. If you want some really sick figures, try spiders or, god forbid, thorns who can get their damage up to 75% of leadership.
Keeping them all alive is quite harder than relying on high-tier creatures, though.
red255 Jun 26, 2019 @ 5:45pm
the reason I liked the sea dogs is they get +10% gold from their unit +10% gold from the jackboots, and the first hero upgrades their speed. and with a single artifact acquired easily on the island of verona, their morale is maxed out.

now I'm not sure what 75% of their leadership in damage is. thorns are plants though, not really a good choice for anything. weak to fire uh....cant be raised from the dead, other things. neutrals probably so they could only get morale from things that give morale to everything or at least them specifically.

anyways you give me you leadership statistic and we can actually do some math on it. with some actual assumptions. with attack and defense calculating actual damage.
Ardanis Jun 27, 2019 @ 6:18am
Sea Dogs have 40 leadership, 18 attack and 5-7 damage.

Thorns (8 leadership, 4 attack, 1-2 damage for ranged ones, 1-3 for melee version) can be spawned by dryads and royal thorns, and healed/resurrected by fawns, so technically you don't even need to have them in your army, they're produced on the spot. It does take more control to avoid losses though, so it's mostly a build for mid to late game when you get dryads and the +100% damage item. But you also don't need to invest into phantoms and can use other magic in the first round.
red255 Jun 27, 2019 @ 8:27am
sea dogs have 40 leadership and 5-7 damage vs 3 targets. thats 15-21 damage.

4 attack vs 18 attack means they can be used vs more targets.
sea dogs have morale so +30% damage on top of that. with chances to crit and whatnot.
you are giving up a headpiece slot for the thorns. can't remember if I found it this run.

but my base headpiece is +1000 leadership I found on the third island. which is 25 sea dogs. whereas the best artifact slot Item I found was 400 leadership, so not really missing out too much using it.

you havent told me how you calculate the % leadership in damage ratio.

I'm sure we could manage something with thorns.

but you get the sea dogs on the second island without much effort to make them better than thorns.
Ardanis Jun 27, 2019 @ 11:44am
I meant base damage, of course, so it gets lower against high defense/resist targets.
[1-3] * 2 = [2-6], i.e. 4 on average and 6 when blessed by inqs, not accounting for crits. That's per 8 leadership.

Then there're also spiders, especially undead ones. Scoring 30k+ per hit :D
