why does playing kiryu feel so bad
It’s bad enough that goons dip and duck around, but I constantly get stunlocked by a barrage of attacks from multiple goons, and the beast combat tree straight up feels like I’m handicapping myself(not always items to pick up so why bother)

It’s just the least satisfying beat’em’up combat I’ve ever experienced. I hope it gets better since I’m leveling stuff whenever I can but compared to Majima’s combat in this game it just feels so bad to play. No matter what combat tree I use.

It’s so clunky and the game crashes so much that I’m losing the drive to grind it out. I’ve lost 2 hours of combined progress from the game crashing and I just find myself praying that the Kiryu chapters are over with so I can be Majima again

maybe it's your own fault for equipping special items that make the enemies more agressive. check your inventory and unequip those items. lot of new players have this problem they equip whatever things they find early not fully aware the effect of those items

Kiryu is fine. i don't know why you think Beast style is give you handicapped when it's the most overpower style in the game. it's so op the developer had to nerf it in the Kiwami

Oh I know what I'm getting into if I put the mew shoes or the punk book on, that said, I only recently learned how to abuse the beast stance. I dropped the difficulty down to normal and at the time I almost exclusively use Rush. I've since read a guide and found the clown at the shrine who gives me free plates to pawn for money, I have most of the health boosts and as much of the combat trees unlocked as I can at this stage and my life is significantly easier. In general what I said before about pack enemies no longer happens. I'm about 25 combined sidequests in at chapter 6 and the only enemy I actually died to is Kiryu's Mr.shakedown 3 times, in comparison Majima's Mr.shakedown took me 1 try

I played through this game in legend mode (which forces you to actually get good to beat the game) and I'm going to tell you that you just gotta practice and figure it out. Obviously, unlocking more skills will make a difference, but you need to learn the capability of the fighting styles as they are, along with the combos you can perform. Certain combos are definitely better than others.
I personally loved playing the beast style, but not immediately when I unlocked. It feels like its too slow and dependent on there being good items on the street. If you play around with it a bit though, it is definitely a very OP fight style.
The only times that I would play as rush style would be if up against one or two people who are either really fast, or they're a boss. Gives you some more time to dodge heavy attacks.
Brawler is an all around pretty strong style though if you're stuck being choosing between speed and power and can be pretty fun to play.

.
Yeah, I'm slowly being onboarded to the use-cases of each style but I must say, the initial learning curve isn't too steep but it really makes everything feel clunky
to everyone who said remove the charismatic autobiography, thank you so much
