Question about the mechanical semantics of the Mew Shoes
The description of the shoes say it "boosts financial fortune". What does that mean as far as ingame money-gains are concerned?

It basically boosts your income by fights by I believe 20% as a equipment financial modifier. Game doesn't really explain this well, but when you're in the menu, you'll see 3 different finacial modifiers, Shakedown, Equipment, and Weapon and List.

Weapon is boosted by a few weapons (generally top end.) and appear to only work when using that weapon in combat. List is money boosts from CP purchases, Equipment appears to be a combination of shirts and accessories. I have no clue how shakedown works.

Honestly Mew Shoes appear worthless, as when you do the the Majima Arcade Stuffed toy Quest you get the Security Wallet accessory, which boosts your Money by the same amount, increases defence, and allows you to keep some money when Shakedown beats you. In addition the Security wallet stacks if you equip 2 at a time. (When you earn one from the quest, you can buy more from Dragon and Tiger pretty cheaply)

As a side benefit, it also doesn't make that stupid sound when walking.

I think it gives you money while you walk (or run) but cannot remember the amount, i think maybe 1000 yen per step?

Ebisu Socks give you money when you walk. Mew Shoes make more street fights around.

damn i had a feeling i was confusing the gimmick shoes
Either way, Security Wallet is better than either. x0.5 money boost, Defence/Knives/Guns boost and you get to keep extra money against shakedown. Using both wallets and the Money Magnet boosts, you can get more than 12 mil per noveau Riche enemies, which also makes Ebisu socks obsolete as well.
