Thanks. What is like a dragon now?
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is 7 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is 8
You can also play "Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man who erased his name" right after Yakuza 6, since that's like "after 6 and a little before 8"
So the order would be:
0 - K1 - K2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - Gaiden - LAK(7) - IW(8)
This way you don't need to jump from Turn Based to Action to Turn Based, and you can get settled with Ichiban after "being done with Kiryu"
Also, just to explain it a little bit further, from now on all Yakuza games will be called "Like a Dragon", SEGA did it because in Japan the franchise is called "Ryu Ga Gotoku", which translates to "Like a Dragon".
I read online (so no guarantee for content of that) that 0 and 1 (kiwami) are both decent points to start
Where, if anywhere, would you put the Judgment games?
Nowhere, they're just considered Yakuza games, but they aren't really related apart from some references AFAIK, same goes for Ishin, which is just an "historical/theater-esque game" played by the Yakuza characters, you can (and should, they're all great games) play them, but you can like, just play them before or after everything else
Yeah no, you're right on Gaiden
I am new to the franchise and searched everywhere for answers and people kept saying to start with 0.
So I started at 0. (about 5 days ago)
I absolutely love the game's style, production quality and so many other things...
but..
however...
It seems pretty obvious that Yakuza 0 is meant for people that are already familiar with the 'Ryu Ga Gotoku' universe's gameplay loop and lore.

I was going to go into a long list explaining but i don't want to derail the thread by dissecting spoilers. The translations/localization certainly don't help.

I won't know for sure until i get to y1 but I have a very strong suspicion that people only recommend y0 first due to the whole 'prequel nostalgia' it gives them and the fact that it is a technologically superior game, not because it is necessarily the best option for a new recruit.
Namely, the second playable character... I have this nagging suspicion that I would appreciate it EVEN MORE if I knew what happens/his role/future-past lore.
I could be wrong. I AM new to the series and have ONLY played Y0
What I can say with certainty is that this game is shockingly good and the fact that FOMO is my only; albeit immediate, gripe says a lot about just how much i am enjoying it.
Do the characters have super powers or something supernatural?
To be honest, I do not know. I am new to the franchise.
There are a ton of things that are unrealistic but I have not seen any magic or 'Super' powers... yet..
Like which things are unrealistic?
