Is it worth playing the other games too?

Greetings!

I've finally finished my very first Yakuza-game and it was a great experience. Before Yakuza 0 I never touched a single Yakuza-game and I honestly can't remember when or WHY I even bought it (probably right after I finished Sleeping Dogs, when I was looking for similar games).

My question is: Is it worth playing the other games too? I'm not a big fan of fighting games, so this wasn't the reason I liked Yakuza 0. It was for the story, the characters and the funny substories. Most of the minigames was also great, but others were just annoying and frustrating like Catfight Club or Disco Dance.

Are the following games (Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3,4,5,6) as close as good as this one and is the story overall worth playing it? It's not about money, but time.

Yes it's very worth it, I recommend playing the sequels after Yakuza 0

Yes. All games have the great story and i think it's worth it, especially Kiwami 1 and Kiwami 2. You just have to be prepeared for the worse graphics in Yakuza 3 because it's not remake but it's great too

well all yakuza games are beat em ups except for 7 which is tuen based rpg, but yes the story in all of them are very good (maybe a little less in 4) and all culminate for kiryu's life

They're all varying degrees of good but some moreso than others and in different categories. Storywise Judgment (The first one.) is imo the best of the franchise by far, but in turn it has weak side activities and only a handful of really memorable sidequests.

yakuza 0 and kiwami 2 are the only games worth playing.

3 and 5 are the worse imo
3 got a bad take of the combat and a bad level up system
5 got a rhythm act and i got two left shoes

Don't skip 3. It's the most underrated and a gem. 4 is the most ehh but still worth playing once.

It’s certainly got the most disjointed plot and rough combat. I can easily replay 4 despite the bananas plot in that game.

If you liked the story you'll probably like the other games. 0-6 go for $20 each or less in a bundle/sale. If you're just doing the side missions and main story you're probably looking at 40 hours of content, each game.
