The sodding TURTLE quest

Ok i give up...wtf am i doing wrong here? no matter what the hell i do i just cannot get this sodding soft shell turtle. Ive watched videos and im in exactly the same spot, i throw in quality bait, i got for the circle objects and all i bloody get are damn crayfish

Im going to drain the worlds crayfish at this sodding rate! have soft shells turtles become exstinct were the character is in the universe?

Is there some trick im missing? like hooking the line instantly or something?

The best fishing pole is bought from the pawnshop, and costs a good chunk of money. Fish up all the fish in the spot, THEN add the bait - this attracts the rare fish.

Otherwise, softshell turtles are fairly common in the random vending machines.

i think im about done with this game. this mini quest is perhaps the worst mini quest ive ever encountered in a game. I must have lost over 8 hours now trying to get this sodding tutrle shell.

He literally told you exactly what to do right here. Doing this is guaranteed assuming you're in the right spot. If you wasted 8 hours trying to do that, that's on you.

The turtle will be square shape, get rid of all the fish in a spot, put out quality bait, go for the squareish shape after that. Idk what to tell you though, I got mine in about 10min. It was evening and in the bottom left fishing spot I think, using the full stats rod. no idea if that matters.
