A prequel to Yakuza 0
Imagine a prequel to Yakuza 0, which is set around 60s Japan, with young Kazama, Kuze, Awano and Shibusawa rising through the ranks of Tojo Clan

It really, like most villains in the series it’s do to something traumatic. Playing anything past 0 most villains are summed up pretty quick. Kuze while cool isn’t even the best villain imo.

Kuze pretty much says it himself. Don't remember the exact quote but it's about the one who gets knocked down isn't the one who loses, it's the one who doesn't get back up and keep going. That's what Kuze does - gets knocked down and keeps getting back up.

At least till the final encounter then vanishes for the rest of the series. Like everyone except a few in zero.

Spoiler for 0: I do believe he went to jail up until the late 90s. He does actually appear in RGG Online, though that's an eastern Asian exclusive game, so I'm not sure what else happens.

It’s more of a reference then anything. Most were essentially in jail or worse at the end of zero.

That's definitely the way he sees it, but then again, he gets his ass kicked from chapter 1 all the way to chapter 17, gets kicked out and demoted, and loses a finger. He might have a point if he had gone out on a win but he just gets worse and worse every time you see him.

Well, that's just how he works - he may have been beaten down by so many things, but he still got up and kept fighting despite all that happened to him. Makes him a strong guy. Guess that's why Kiryu respects him so much, since Kiryu became like that too.

Ryuji could be somewhat interesting given how similar he was to kiryu. But Mine eh being stuck in yakuza 3 didn’t do him any favors. Like kuze he’s there as an obstacle.

Well op never bothered playing past 0 I think. Granted after 0 it’s sets insane expectations for later games.

I played Kiwami and Like a Dragon too :)

Well like a dragon is a jrpg, and prior games aren’t needed to play it. Guess you’d need to have played kiwami to assume they ruined Niski.
