A prequel to Yakuza 0
Imagine a prequel to Yakuza 0, which is set around 60s Japan, with young Kazama, Kuze, Awano and Shibusawa rising through the ranks of Tojo Clan

Personally while I would play it if a prequel came out I don't think it's necessary.

I think it's nice being able to leave some of their legend as your imagination. I'd like the newer games to drop their names more, it feels like the newer games forgot kazama and the old guard gang.
I don't want name drops. I want to play as Kazama and Kuze

We're gonna receive the darkest yakuza game if this ever happens
Why would it be dark? I am sure Kuze was cheerful just like Nishki. Maybe something happened that changed him forever. He would be a good protagonist and it would be an amazing story.
I think it would be dark because the rising of a criminal organisation is never clean, plus I feel that Kuze wouldn't have been like Nishiki - he was a boxer, and I can imagine back then in Japan especially that it was a harsh world to be in, especially if a Yakuza organisation is rising behind it.

I feel like maybe how Kuze joined the Yakuza was that the Tojo clan got behind some illegal betting schemes and he got caught up in it, but they knew he was a good fighter so they took him in instead of killing him.

So yeah, I do think it'd be dark. Post war Japan, you know?

Maybe play the rest, like you I’ll play these games regardless of the protagonist. There are plenty in the series that could have a game but don’t. Because they are there as an obstacle and character growth.
once they do Kiwami 3 and 4, sure
They aren’t doing remakes of 3-5 honestly 3 is the only one that has aged but it was the first after the ps2. You disservice yourself but it’s your choice.

Honestly the only thing I find wrong with 3's combat is the blocking and the mechanics surrounding enemies blocking. It's just 2 things, really:

1: Street thugs block too much. They're street thugs so I don't get this.
2: Breaking block is odd - it seems your block can be broken easily but other enemies (not just bosses iirc) cannot.
There's a reason the "Square x3 Triangle x2 spam" joke exists.

Other than that? I think it's pretty cool. Story got me tearing up a bit, too.

Edit: Download this mod and it's sister mod for 4 if you do play it. QLoc looked over it, I guess: https://www.nexusmods.com/yakuza3remastered?tab=popular+%28all+time%29

Meh 3 plot is the weakest trying to balance 2 tones. In the end most of the events in 3 are ignored.

I have heard so much bad reviews about 3 that I don't want to continue the Kiryu story line. Also, they did my boy Nishki bad in Kiwami. After player Yakuza 0 and seeing how they changed Nishki, I couldn't play anymore.

There’s like a 10 year time skip in kiwami though. Plus unlike the original they explain that more. Yakuza in the 80s compared to today is vastly different the game cover that pretty well.

Yakuza Kiwami didn't change Nishiki, you know?

I'd buy it, but I don't expect it to ever happen. I'd be more excited about a Kazama/Kuze game than another Ichiban game, but at this point my plan is to just buy a Yakuza game every Steam sale, and I'm currently still on Kiwami 2. Kuze was a great villain because he really earned that respect with his tenacity.

I saw it kinda opposite. He was a great villain because he just couldn't get enough of Kiryu kicking his ass.

Maybe something happened in his past that we can only discover with a Yakuza -1 game
