Did the game just throw it at Maharaja Showdown?

The AI was getting around ~6300 points when I was trying to do I'm Going to Make Her Mine on Normal mode, and three times in a row, I didn't beat him. All of a sudden, on the fourth attempt, the AI started missing everything in sight, and ended with a ~4800 score when I had ~6100. Is there some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hidden auto difficulty adjuster, or is this just simply the work of a randomizer.

Because it's honestly really insulting if the game dumbed down the difficulty so I can win.

Just watched a video of the battle I assume you're talking about and the character got around 4400 points on easy. Maybe you accidentally hit easy instead of normal? Either way I've never heard of randomised AI difficulty, though it could be a thing for sure.
