The problem is that Denuvo can seriously reduce game performance. Denuvo doesn't stop me from buying a game that I want, but I'll be happier if the game doesn't use Denuvo.
At least not seriously anyway.
Honestly, what will get Sega to stop using Denovo is if Denovo hurts the sales of Yakuza 0 and future Yakuza games. More importantly, if the game runs poorly, people will not buy the game. The overall market does not care about some niche anti-denovo group. Wait until the game comes out! And then talk about the game's proformance issues.
Don't get me wrong though, I don't like Denovo or any DRM. I just think complianing about it here doesn't make awhole lot of sense.
Honestly, I think this forum kinda shows a bigger problem about the PC Yakuza 0's launch. It shows that a lot of people on this forum either have played the Yakuza series, subscribed to a "not-recommend" curator ussually with the theme of "console ports that have DRM software", or think that this game is GTA made by Sega. Basically, its a population that summed by a strong voiced population, but still a small niche gaming community.
I kind hope that this game gets some better marketing for the PC because I definately want to see what PC gamers think of the Yakuza series. And if the PC port does have problems, I want a large group of people voice theses conserns, rather just "I hate Denovo because I hate Denovo" people.
Basically anything if poorly implemented is going to run like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You can even see it with middlewares at times.
In most cases Denuvo isn't the problem (outside of startup times and maybe loadtimes), and the reason the "cracked versions" supposedly perform better has more to do with gutting the Steam portion of the DRM since Denuvo is still present in those cracked titles.
I mean Denuvo has some issues like the whole DOOM 2016 authentication debacle, and the fact there is basically no support for occasions where the authentication ♥♥♥♥♥ up. But from a technical standpoint it's kinda benign, especially in comparison to past protection mechanisms.
I'm not saying it is the case or not, but it's pretty easy to claim you have one and unless you link your psn profile no one can prove or disprove that. Whereas if you have a public profile on Steam, someone can clear as day see whether or not you actually buy games.
It is kind of funny though, the PS4 is pretty damn DRM'd. I have one sitting on my desk and like it's even doing disk checks (though not as cancer as the ones PC used to have, least it stops spinning the disk not long after bootup).
Honesty i wouldn't mind paying full price for this game again if it didn't have denuvo.
Bayonetta and Vanquish didn't need it and they sold just fine.Pirates will evetually crack it anyways.
AC Origins used 2 drms and was still cracked. Most people who pirate have no intentions of buying it in the first place. They can wait a month or two.
Yet there are here harassing and trolling all day long ......
