Most have the same method which is switching to a wired xb1/360 controller for a reliable rate of 100%
Also works mostly fine for my Switch Hori Pad, but the select button doesn't work in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami for some reason, neither does the Turbo button.
I'm so very sorry that I made this thread without asking permission first Master, as we all know space on this forum is at a premium and how dare I waste resources like that. What a bastard I am.
I tried that with the controller settings within steam, and for every other game I've tried; the other Yakuza games, Monster Hunter World and Way of the Samurai 3 & 4 there has been zero issues, however Yakuza 0 just wanted to be a pain for me.
So I only made this post just in case someone else, who happened to have a similar issue could find a solution.
Gee, that’s very helpful. Yes I’ll go and buy another controller just for this game. Perfect.
Yep did that years ago, works for other games, but for some reason it didn’t this time for Yakuza 0
Not the problem I was having, mine was stick drift and auto menu scrolling.
Oh boy, just go buy a different pad! Also turns out using 3rd party software did end up fixing my problem.

Same problem and yet no one replied, I was going to but I wouldn’t want to waste precious forum space and resources.

No solutions
And that’s it, there’s 2 or 3 more threads asking about icon displays being different or reworded version of the above. So all in no, a solution wasn't magically there, apart from use the steam controller in house config software (which as I stated before have done and works for other games) or just buy a new controller.
I hope you step on Lego Lar Dass.
But, go ahead stick to the switch controller, its your choice. Meanwhile ill stick to my wired xb controller and encounter 0 controller issues for the rest of the games i own and more
I have already enabled the options in the steam controller config, I did this about a year or so ago, other games work with the controller.
However telling me to just buy a xbox pad isn't helpful to me, because I don't want to spend money on a controller for just one game, given that as stated before using the steam controller config to get the pro controller works for other games with zero issues, only Yakuza 0 has had issues using this method.
Also if that’s what you call whining then ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I’d hate to be your friend and ask for advice.
Also proof of it being wired;

As a side note it's also good to have an Xbox controller on hand because Nintendo gave up analog triggers with pressure sensitivity, which sucks, especially if you play games with driving.
I'd also ask if you tried manually setting the buttons in steam controller settings before using third party software. There's no good reason you should have to stop using Steam's software to use a controller with the game, and I would consider troubleshooting if something is wrong with your Steam install or drivers, regardless if it works for other games.
I do agree with using a xbox controller if you don't have any sort of pad and looking to buy one, I loved my 360 and used it right up until it started to get really wonky, then used it for a few more months until I couldn't take it anymore. Then I saw a post for some other game talking about the pro controller and well I already have a switch so I thought fantastic, that saves me having to go out and buy a new pad, I'll just use that.
And here's the thing, Yakuza 0 is the only game I own that has given me this kind of problems, all the other games within steam I've used a pad for have had zero issues, I've brought that up a few times and it seems to be glossed over each time, maybe because it's in the middle of my massive text block and you two are speed reading it, I don't know.
As for setting up the buttons, that was only part of the problem, the other one was auto menu scrolling, as if I was holding down the stick when I wasn't, and before you say do a pad reset, did that no difference, loaded up a different game, zero issues, back to Yakuza 0 all the issues are back again.
Same with the E word, tried the snes and 3ds no problems, tried the ps3 had some really weird problems, went looking for a solution, found one that worked perfectly and thought, well if this fixed that E word, then maybe I might get lucky with Yakuza 0 and it finally works.
I also did a search on this forum for a in house solution, it's always the same 3 things, buy a xbox controller, use the steam config or I don't know. The drivers are also fine, it says there's no problems found so I don't know what more I can do, I've done the steam config, works perfect for other games, checked the drivers, unless windows is lying, seems to be fine, I'm using the pad with the usb cable.
However, your point about analog triggers with pressure sensitivity is very interesting and I can fully see why that would be an issue for a lot of people. However, I suck at driving games so not so much for me. And now that I think about it, I can't really remember the last game I played where that would be an issue for me. But again, I can see why someone would want that, it's the same with the d pad and L/R triggers, the pro controller is a bit loose on the triggers and the d pad's a bit stiff. Maybe I've gotten used to it.
