(1) you've somehow got the controls set to Japanese-style where O is OK and X is back / cancel (Western releases of Playstation games have generally reversed this). You can change controller button settings from the game's main menu using mouse / keyboard, going to Settings -> Remap Gamepad Controls.
or
(2) the default Windows settings for a game controller can mis-map the face buttons on a DS4, e.g. treating <Square> as button 1, <Cross> as button 2, &c. This can be circumvented by opening Steam Big Picture mode, selecting Yakuza 0 in your library, then going to Manage Settings -> Controller Configuration & setting up controller mappings there (appropriate presets already exist).
if you have an nvidia video card and are using ds4windows the nvidia service stops the hide ds4 feature from working
Open Task Manager, go to Services tab and Rightclick/Stop the one named NvContainerLocalSystem (Description says: NVIDIA LocalSystem Container). Now start DS4W and enable the Hide DS4 feature (under settings it's a check box), it should work now.
Easiest way to test is to simply use the d-pad on the first menu, if it's working then you're good because when the controls are jacked up the d-pad doesn't work in menus.
If it works go back to Task Manager and start the just stopped NvContainerLocalSystem.
It should keep working until you restart your PC no matter you restart DS4W.
Worked like a charm for me. Ton of people suggesting uninstalling ds4w when it's not at all necessary. The problem is that the error message that the hide ds4 feature isn't working is VERY easy to miss. So a lot of people are under the impression it's working when it's not.
thank you, i was stuck for a day triyng to fix the problem and it is something so simple.
