Ruby Plate turning into Dragon Shirt?
I got a Ruby Plate as a reward from beating up some thugs, but when I went to leave it into my item box, I found out in its place was a Dragon Shirt, but when I went to try and equip it, it doesn't show in the equippables, so I assume it's the Plate which somehow changed names and models.

I've just started playing and this is my second reward. Is this known? Does this happen a lot? I mean if it's just a name change I really don't care a lot, but it will make keeping track of my inventory harder if it's commonplace.

One time all my items turned into fish and other food. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1838365940
I simply reloaded game.

It's a well-known but rare bug. Surprised you got it so early. To save you the research time, basically the game doesn't always save properly. This can happen after any time you save. It is recommended to check your items from time to time, after you save, before you quit, etc.

To fix it? Either reload OR simply save again, that's what I do. The new save should work fine and the items will have returned to their original forms. Some people report slots being permanently used and bugged, but I haven't experienced that from the 2 or 3 times it's happened to me. I think the longest it went unnoticed was only half an hour. I bet that determines whether it permanently bugs or not.

I usually have two save slots running for every game I play though. That's probably the safest way around this bug.

Just save two times and then reload the save again and they will return to what they were. The first save after you encounter this bug somehow doesn't actually saved and also don't use the item box at telephone booth if you encounter this bug or it will crash your game.

As the upper post said, use multiple save slots. Don't just use one. I personally use 3 slots.

Hm. Well, I put the conflicting item in the item box right away and it didn't crash my game, and by the looks of it it saved just fine. However, when I reloaded the game the dragon shirt's still in my item box, still can't equip it. I'll try withdrawing it, saving and reloading, see if it does the trick.

Last time I tried to use item box when i got this bug and it crashed my game. Maybe its just me. I think you can just sell that "dragon shirt". The game may still recognized it as ruby plate.

You need to reload a save from before the item swap happened.

If you catch it early, you lose very little time. If you start playing and don't notice, well, you could be losing hours of work.

Well, the plate changed immediately after picking it up, so that's not really an option. It's good to know how to revert it, though.

In the end I reloaded with the item in my person and that didn't fix it. Couldn't equip it and it didn't show on the sell menu either, so I ended up discarding it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If the game already counts you as having the item you should be able to buy it from the Dragon and Tiger store

Yup, it counts as unlocked. Hella expensive though, so I don't think I'll be getting it any soon.

Now uh... I blew 4 mil in a fur belly warmer, noticed my items were out of wack, so I saved and loaded and while the rest is back to normal, the belly warmer has turned into a low profile tire from the pocket cars, placing it into the item box just makes a new one on the box, so I can spam infinite low profile tires on my inventory.

I uh... guess I'll give save editing a shot.

And check your inventory every time you finish a substory, check your inventory every time you save... Honestly, I can't believe it's been a year and Sega hasn't patched this up.

Several years late, but the easiest thing to do for this is to keep saving until it says "Save Completed" at the bottom right corner. That's your indication that the game saved properly and your inventory will be back to normal.
