Music got quieter?
Is it just me or the music has got a lot more quiet since the last update? It bothers me quite a bit because I love the soundtrack.

OK, I actually figured out what was going on and have submitted the info to Sega because this is DEFINITELY a bug!

Yakuza 0 does surround sound processing by default. Under normal conditions, even on a 2.0 or 2.1 speaker setup, the game should sound fine. However, something got messed up when handling combat. In combat, the music is ONLY coming out of the front speakers, not the rear speakers, thus effectively making the music half the volume it should be, while sound effects are EXCLUSIVELY coming out of the front or rear speakers and not being positioned in 3D space properly, thus again leading them to sound out of balance!

Again, submitted the info to Sega. Given that they're actively developing another patch I really hope this gets addressed before too long! If anyone would like to try and confirm this and also submit the info to Sega if they can it would definitely help!

switch to mono to get even sound, but it's kinda loud overall but that's a fix for me

@LArc7thHeaven Thanks, I'll try that later

For me, the sound of hitting people is now very muffled too.

This is not your imaginations, something very weird has happened to the volume balancing with the latest patch. Most things are the same volume as before, however, anything related to combat or music has dropped in volume, combat effects only slightly, music considerably.

I've been in touch with Sega's support line for the game. They say they can't reproduce the issue, but I think it may be more apt to say they probably don't consider the current balancing of the audio to be an issue, as prior to now, lots of people were complaining about the music being too loud, yet in the process of adding a music volume slider, the maximum music volume has been reduced and it is now impossible to get the music loud enough anymore for those who preferred the higher music volume. :/

I've asked if there was a way to scroll back to the previous version, as I had no issues there at all with the audio, but they have ignored this request. :(

I'm going to give this guide a try for downgrading back to the previous version of the game. I'll let you all know how it goes! https://steamcommunity.com/app/638970/discussions/0/1739964947819455941/

@Gemini Thanks, I appreciate this

Initial Result: The primary manifest for the older version does NOT include the executable, so you also need to grab the older manifest for the English Content as well which does include the executable. Grabbing that now...

Urg... Every time I try to launch the game in a downgraded state, it immediately deletes the executable and tries to download the latest update, despite following the guides to PREVENT updates. >_<

Sega logo is DEAFENING while the intro video is very quiet in stereo.

I just mute the Sega logo as it's by far the loudest sound effect in the entire program. ;)

Found a way to launch the old version without triggering Steam to update it... but it won't even load up to the Sega logo and just ends up loading forever. :/

Not sure what else to try at this point. The simplest solution would be if Sega's support would just provide a password to one of the prior builds that could then be accessed through Steam's betas system. :/
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

They need to do something about this, everytime the game starts, its best to run in another room to avoid that deafening sound at the Sega logo.
