is majima or kiryu the better character in your opinion?

Majima is alright in 0 but becomes insufferable later in the story. For me, the best characters in 0 are Lee and Nishitani. In the series as a whole, it's probably Akiyama. I really liked Rikiya in 3 also.

hmm ok i have only played 0 so :P

I have no idea why they thought making Majima this super likeable guy in 0 was a great idea. The transition he makes at the end of 0 also feels super forced and like they ran out of options for reasons as to why Majima is like he is in 1 and onwards.

He is likeable in literally every Yakuza game, both canon and non-canon. There is a good reason why he is fan favorite for years.

And his personality from 0 is similar to his older self from Y4 and 5.

Only Kiryu and Saejima even tolerate Majima. He's likeable to the fans, but not for the characters in the games. That's what I meant.
And let's be honest, the transition from a do-gooder that avoids fighting people even if it makes him look bad and saves women in distress to a sadistic yakuza that threatens civilians with bats really makes no sense no matter what way you look at.
