The weapons seem only to exist in order to complete a checklist of heat moves. The weapon search and crafting system is rendered pointless by the combat so yeah, pointless.
But there's a lot of pointless fluff in this game, the shared item box seem the most egregious example, most of the time it just seems like busywork. Games seem to becoming a checklist of tasks to complete rather than having the side stuff there for reasons of specifically having fun.
Do it 5 times for a point, do it 10 times for another point, do it a 100 times, moron, to just to prove you'll excuse any old garbage.
Games have lost their way.
That's the point though, the combat system is well powerful enough, more damage is just superfluous, and to have entire system built around something that not needed in the first place is just pointless.
Except none of this is a wall that hides any real thing.
Some people like the colleting things mini games, me no so much. So I just don't do it very often.
I'm a fan of the Club side game, the arcade, and the disco. All of these things, I've head people say that they are just as pointless.
As long as it doesn't wall you off from the content of the game, let players have what they want.
This isn't like the first cut of Shadow of War, or Battlefront II, where they walled off content behind extreme grinding.
It's just that side stuff that players who like it can do, and players who don't can avoid.
It's not just 'side stuff' when it's used for getting points for upgrading.
If it was just a 'pat on the back', "You have done well to trudge through this unnecessary content", then fine, there's nothing to be lost, but you are losing for not competing the useless stuff. So you have to do stuff you don't want to, and bore yourself in to the bargain.. how's that 'fun'?
Game content shouldn't be aimed purely at a OCD audience.
Except there is more than enough side content to upgrade without doing the collecting mini games.
The ony thing locked is the land ownership and the club, and those are pretty simple to get done. The item colllection game as mentioned here is not locking nayting out.
Absolutely not.. Since when has it become ok to design a game who's mechanics are aimed at people who'll do something just because it's there and not because it's actually fun to do.. and I'm sorry, but those who find all of the pointless rubbish in this game 'fun' are not the general audience a game should be aimed at. Those are people with mental issues, obsessive compulsion 'who just MUST do it simply because it's been rammed in'.
Ahh so now you'r egoing to hate on side content, and people that enjoy it. So you can't have a reasonable conversation about it. Okay we're done. You've said all you need to say.
