hot tip; zap gun melts everything

For those who don't know;
Most reliable means to get the zap gun, without spoiling too much, is at the point in the game where you can send people out to procure equipment given that you have enough cash.
Once procured it is unlocked to buy as many as you like. I also recommend doing the same with "sacrificial idol" as they're basically extra lives. Useful against "Mr. Shakedown".

The zap gun basically butchers any boss regardless of how agile, strong or tough they are because it does electrical damage. Not physical. No enemy has resistance to this type. I breezed through the last part because I had 30 in my possession each carrying 18 rounds.
I used hand to hand only when I fancied a challenge.

zap or slime do the same thing, bosses don't have immunities to those damage types for whatever reason.. makes fighting the amon brothers a joke in this game =/ but it's there to abuse

Smoke Gun is best among the custom shotguns. Works on 1st heat Amon and all Mr Shakedowns. 2nd heat Amon is immune to special damage types and bullets if I remember correct.

Also, it's the Amon father and son. We fight the Amon brothers in Y4 and Y5.

I'll find out during my playthrough i'm pretty sure I Just pumped both Amon full of zap/slime guns in my ps4 plat run

I managed to get a Zap Gun by sending "Ex-Police Officer" to "Hunter's Village" in Japan with 10 million yen, but according to the game to make the search instant and increase the chances to 99, you need to give him at least 5,561,401 yen (plus 558,000 travel and recruitment fee). If you don't mind waiting 33 seconds, you can give him 4,966,200 yen for 99 chance for the Zap Gun. This is by far the cheapest and fastest way to get the Zap Gun, so reload your save if the weapon doesn't show up right away. He can get you the weapon itself or the means to craft it.

Another, but less reliable and more tiresome, way to get the zap gun is to save at a booth where a vending machine is across the street, such as saving at the booth in Ashitaba Park looking at the vending machine in Bunzaemon Outdoor Mall. You need to make sure the vending machine is a "One Million Yen Vending Machine", so reload your save if it's anything else.

I honestly have no use for any of the weapons, and kinda makes a big part of the activity pointless.

Kiryu's Rush demolishes bosses and Beast obliterates crowds, Whilst Majima's Breaker and Slugger are astoundingly over-powerful for any situation.

If I used weapons it would just slow the game down.

mhe i use the zap gun for some fast cash on mr shakedown other than that i never used it . it would become a boring game

Then you are looking at the wrong part of the FAQ, I probly should have mentioned which part earlier, sorry.

Recipes section lists the materials needed, Parts section lists ways to get each material, and Equipment section lists various stats.

Zap Gun requires: 1 Slime Gun, 8 Printed Circuit Board, 5 Great Serpent Skin to craft.
