ALT-TAB switch or afk freezes game

I've the following problem:
Whenever I switch from Game to desktop, game freezes. The taskbar button of Yakuza dissapears, there is a big black window which you can only close with taskmanager.

Same happens when I go away from keyboard. After returning whole game is broken.
I can't play this game with such bugs.

Same here. Whenever I watch one of the longer cutscenes/dialogs my monitor goes to standby and the game crashes.

Try running the game as admin and switching it to borderless.

how do i stop it from constantly going into windows when I alt-tab?

Same exact problem on my end. I didnt know it was related to going AFK but I noticed oftentimes during long cutscenes the game freezes and if I try to alt tab or alt enter the game gets filed as a background application and I have to kill the process through task manager.

It seems like this game is fighting to be in a low power mode for some reason. Even when I pause the game I drop from a rock stable 120 fps to like 30 for a second or two. It's like it doesnt want to actually use your computer's power and is looking for any possible reason to become a background app.

Sorry for the bump but does anyone have a fix to this after it crashes?

I was at the final cutscenes and it took like 1.5 hours to get there and it crashed at the cutscene but steam displays it as running so maybe there is a way to switch back to the game?

you must have the screen on windows if you want with no crash, when going afk

I had to switch the game to borderless fullscreen using the graphics.ini setting file because switching mode in-game always lead to black screen crash on exclusive fullscreen.

The settings files are located in C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Sega\Yakuza0\ - open graphics.ini and set Borderless=1

On borderless fullscreen you can tab out of the game without crashes.

I had this problem myself and my fix for it was disabling Discord's overlay for the game. Can't say this is the problem and solution for everyone, but I've seen a few comments around saying you should also disable anything from trying to hook into the game's process. Like an anti-virus, for example.
