Sega removed the random thug's quotes?
Last Yakuza game I've played was Yakuza 4, and one of my favourite aspects of the game was the over the top and hillarious nonsense stuff the random thugs said to you before a fight. Now in Yakuza 0, they simply approach you and the battle begins. What a shame.

It's been this way, since the release of yakuza 5. Yakuza 0, 5 and Kiwami don't have those pre and post battle dialogs anymore. Yakuza 1, 2,3 and 4 have them though.

Wait, what? Thugs still yell stupid ♥♥♥♥ before chasing after you...

'EHH? ARE?... MATTE!!'
'OI SOKO NO OMAE!!'
'ANO YAROU!'

etc etc...

He meant something more like, "How dare you pass by me without showing respect, do you know who I am?!"

Then during this conversation people start to flock around you and then a fight happens.

But that was annoying IMO. It was more of a limitation with either the hardware or the engine, and that's how they would load in the fights. Now it's more seamless, which I prefer.

In 3 you'd make a really wide berth to avoid these people standing in the middle of the road because at a certain point in the game they start just being really annoying because of how weak they are.

That's not what OP means, you had a whole pre battle and post battle encounter dialog with the thugs, here is a video that shows what OP means by that:

Personally I liked these dialogs in yakuza 3 and 4, they where diverse and kinda amusing.

They are at the start but once you've seen them all you just tend to mash X.

People in Kamurucho and Okinawa ought to have posters of Kiryu with a message that says "DO NOT MESS WITH"
pharmacist12 Aug 2, 2018 @ 3:27am
You don't need to mash x to skip them really, you just hold down R1 and X at the same time and it will skip the dialogues faster. It's been like this since the original Yakuza 2.

Well too late to follow your advice now, I just finished replaying the PS3 games last year.
pharmacist12 Aug 2, 2018 @ 3:57am
Oh that's sad, but yakuza 0 is still a ps3 game in theory, so the same press down and hold both " lock on button and sway button" still applies as you can skip dialogs as well, by doing this on a PC version.

Thanks for this video. I laughed a lot reading the lines of the thugs.

You're welcome man!

Yakuza 0 doesn't have the intro dialog where it stops you on random encounters, but honestly I think that's for the best. It's a pacing issue. It already takes forever for a battle ot initiate between having them spot you, and the game loading the battle. (Even if you run into them, and even if you have this game on an SSD with a good CPU.)

You get the sillier dialog with the scripted battles. There's 'Victims' scattered around the map that are often being bullied, Kiryu steps in and you'll get much of the same dialog of "Don't you know who I am?!" and such.

It added flavor but it also added a metric crap ton of time before a battle would start and end, and that's bad for gameplay pacing. If you compare Yakuza games to JRPGs which use similar systems, it's still abysmally slow even in Yakuza 0 where that Dialog is not used to interupt the player.

Plus, they still yell silly stuff at you with voice overs and text boxes above their heads. They're not complex sentences but they're still saying silly, thuggish things without slowing down the game pacing.

So for instance, if 3 and 4 are remastered I wouldn't want them to remove it, but I can see why they would change it for future titles and I prefer the change from a gameplay standpoint.

3 and 4 are still too fresh to be remastered. But hey, they did it with Skyrim and Dark Souls, so let's wait. I remember they cut the hostess clubs from the western version of Yakuza 3, so there's that to add in a possible remaster.

Why they try to figh men called " Mad Dog of Shimano" and "Dragon of Dojima". It makes me wonder.
