DS4 controller has square for cross and cross for circle
Im having this problem that will make it impossible for me to play the Karaoke minigame since every button mapped doesn't correspond to the one i actually need to press.
I closed DS4 and just ran the game without the program and i still have this problem.

Make sure you have PS4 Controller support turned on from the Steam Controller settings.

So i managed to fix it so the buttons are correctly mapped but now the buttons are recognized as XBOX buttons which makes it even harder

Are you something like DS4Windows? That could also be messing things up.

As i said i closed DS4Windows completely and unless i open the game in big picture now it doesn't recognize the controller
Don't use DS4 windows. It is outdated, steam registers PS4 controllers itself. Delete any driver related to DS4 windows and re-insert your controller.

This does nothing for non steam games or games that cant be launched through steam. Even setting the controller's desktop config as a standard Xinput controller doesnt allow any other program or game to detect it, it has to launch through steam.

Inputmapper is the DS4windows replacement. It's what I use for non steam games.

This is Steam-only game though.

And? You told him to delete the program that allows him to play non steam stuff, doing so would make other stuff he has not work correctly.

I play non steam stuf using my steam controller, just add everything on Steam, problem solved and the most awesome button/trackpad mapping for every game.

If a program outside of Steam is causing issues in Steam-only title, tough break. Then choices are either to play something else or try deleting the program and see if that was the issue.

Not problem solved at all. Many games cant be added to steam or use launches that close when the game launches.

If everything worked that would be great, but there is a ton of stuff you cant add.

There is an alternative, you just configure the pad "desktop" mode as a controller instead of the default navigation. But I have no problem with many games with launchers, even blizzard and origin games people always find workarrounds to play them.

A button mapping program would have zero bearing on where a game it puts icons. All a controller emulation program does does is emulate buttons. Besides, why would totally removing your ability to play non steam games with a controller be a preferable option over simply closing the program. Again it's emulation software, running a GBA emulator doesnt slowly turn your PC into a GBA even after it's closed.

Already addressed that earlier. Desktop config does not work. I've not had a single game recognize a controller when using that, and that includes both a DS4 and a steam controller.

Steam also emulates controllers, that's what Steam is doing with Xbox One and PS4 controllers unless the game specifically has a support for them. Yakuza 0 doesn't seem to have as it does not recognize the PS4 controller correctly if the PS4 specific option is turned off.
