Model Swapping - It's Possible
Mess around with the files in steamapps\common\Yakuza 0\media\data\chara\w64\adv, make sure you back everything up. Proof of concept, copying Kiryu into Kashiwagi's folder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEJLrSLQTyg

Go nuts

I sadly can't share model files as I believe that will go against copyrights and such. All I can say is you either have to dump the ps4 game files yourself or search some more.

I will let you all know if Kiwami 2 models work. The engine though doesn't really matter. It's more if the file set up is the same as zero and 1's is. That certain model format. If it isn't changed. Then I have some high hopes Kiwami 2 models may work.
That only applies for the exe not the models come on who yuo fooling. Why would you show us that example and be stingy with the files it makes no sense. I do not have a ps4.

Hey wait a second, I know you. You're a former Dead Rising 2 modder.
DR2 made me come to hate forum based modding releases seeing as how they'd let links die in a year or two and complain when you asked for a mirror. Let's hope Yakuza modding doesn't turn out like that.

So installed Binary Domain, unpacked chara.par and found a lot of unpacked character's assets, does not seem to have the same file distribution as Yakuza Zero xd

I am not trying to be stingy at all. Just wanna be careful of copyrights of distributing PS4 files. As I don't wanna see this topic get shut down because of it. It's happened to a few topics before for other games. So it's just me trying to be cautious I guess.

Yeah. You never know when moderators or copyright toadies might pop in and lock interesting threads because of copyright issues. Better safe than sorry.

Does anyone know to mod the characters that only have a "mesh" file? For example, Mr. Libido only has mesh but every time I try to swap Kiryu's with his, The game freezes. The ones that have both the "mesh" and "face" work for me no problem.

I know swapping male to female character models require extra steps that has been posted already. Do I do the same thing or something similar?

you have to edit the hex values for Majima's ponytail in the accessories folder:
Yakuza 0\media\data\chara\w64\accessory
choose your outfit then open the mesh.par file in HxD and clear the hex values that translates into any Majima's .gmd file
you have to do it for the same outfit but with different prefixes
for example i edited these folders for Majima's Kiryu (or "New Hire" in-game) outfit
a) Yakuza 0\media\data\chara\w64\accessory\b_c_cm_majima_kiryu_hair1
b) Yakuza 0\media\data\chara\w64\accessory\b_c_at_majima_kiryu_hair1
and the ponytail is gone

Make sure to backup your files before changing anything

Thanks for showing this, but I don't know why you have it as unlisted. I don't think Sega has any problems with us showing videos of mods since they themselves fully support them as long as we don't make money off of them and such. Besides, the more public videos of mods that show up (and properly tagged for easier finding), the more people will get interested in modding this game, don't you all think? ;)

So a report back on Kiwami 2 models to zero. So I saw all the character models for Kiwami 2 are packed in to a single big PAR file, instead of in single packed par files in folders like zero and kiwami 1 are. But the model format seems to be the same. Same extentions and such. So I imagine that the way to see if these would work is to find a script or tool that can repack a PAR file in to a single named file. As so far there is only a quickbms script that can unpack most of the Yakuza series PAR format.

I still haven't managed to fix the issue with the endless loading screen, so I have a few questions:

The instructions say to change c_cm_bone to c_cw_bone or c_aw_bone
1. Does the another c_cw_bone or c_aw_bone have to be changed?
2. What about c_am_bone?

I'm trying to change Kiryu's and/or Majima's overworld model into a female character.

It's only unlisted because my youtube channel isn't about random game mods (although I should really get a second channel to show off some for various games.)

If all you want to do is change to a female character, you would change c_cm_bone to c_cw_bone. The other prefixes (aw, am, etc) are for cutscene models. All you're changing is c_cm_bone, you can leave everything else as is..
