What am I missing? Why can I not Ron?
I think I've improved at Mahjong pretty substantially over the last couple days. Really enjoy it too. Look at this setup I'm confused over:

I'm in a single wait for the 7 Sou, and I'm certain I meet the criteria to Ron. I'm not in furiten, and the all 7 sous played by the left and top players (I never passed opportunity to Ron) has me up the wall. This is a ranked game, so maybe is it the 2 Han minimum, and I only have 1 han (before counting dora, which don't count to making a hand eligible), but I thought that that rule only came into effect when the table has 5 honba, which I had to look up because it's such an obscure rule.

I'm just so confused, I want to know why I couldn't win right here. I mean, I still wound up placing 1st with a 30k point lead, but it's the principle of the matter!

As you said it looks like a 2-han minimum rule. You just got the 3 white dragons, so it doesn't look like you can Ron.

As for the other rules you mentioned, I have no idea, I'm not that good with Mahjong, and that's why I went and disabled the 2 Han minimum Ron, it kept messing with my mind.

What I'm confused about, is that I've been playing with the 2 han minimum rule for a while, and it hasn't stopped me from getting cheap dirty wins with a stolen triplet of dragon tiles before. I'm thinking there's something else in play here.

You ARE in furiten - see that 4 of bamboos you discarded? That could've been another way to complete your 5-6 bamboos set, which is why you're not allowed to Ron with the 7 of bamboos now.

Hope that helps :) I love mahjong, but it sure can be tricky haha.

So, because I discarded one way to complete a straight, I'm not allowed to win with the OTHER way I could complete it? That's a kick in the balls!

But thanks man.

That's right, yeah. Had to Google it to double-check, as at first I thought it's only the exact cards you discard that you are forbidden to Ron with, but turns out it's more strict than that.

Uh oh... does this rule apply to entire hands? One of my personal goals is to get a Kokushi Muso (13 orphans), and the concern is: if I have to discard one of the honors or terminals in order to get into tenpai, does the entire 13-way wait become invalid?

As you're furiten if you can win on any previous discard, and no exceptions are listed, I'd imagine so? There's a reason it's pretty much the hardest hand to get, and you should only attempt it if you're more than halfway there with what your initial hand.

That said, good luck - have yet to get that one myself too!
