Anyone else like Majima far more than Kiryu?
This is my first Yakuza game, and wow this is one of the best games I've ever played. I'm enjoying it so much. I'm finding that I enjoy the parts with Majima far more than the Kiryu sections though. Everything about Majima's story is better. The main story is really interesting, his fighting styles are more fun (I love the breakdancing style), the minigames are more fun, and the sidestories are all either very funny or heartwarming. Sometimes both!

I was kind of sad to learn that this is the only game where Majima is a playable main character and that apparently he goes a bit crazy after this game and becomes a very different person. He's so classy in Yakuza 0!

I want to play the other games when they release to PC, but I have a feeling that none of them will be as good as this one.

Me too, this is my first Yazuka game, and I like Majima better than Kiryu.
Majima's story and his personality I find it very interesting.

Majima's ending was heartbreaking. :Furrowed:

Well yeah but you can't play him.
If Kiwami 2 surprise is the minigame...I highly doubt I will like it that much if it does come to PC, will still love his dialogues and such and the ability to bring him to various "date-spots" =)

That certainly makes me more interested in Kiwami 2. I'm sure I'll still enjoy this series and the more crazy Majima that comes later, just not as much as I liked Yakuza 0. In all of the polls I've seen this game seems to be most people's favorite by a lot with Yakuza 4 being the only other one that gets a large amount of votes over the others

I actually find myself playing Kiryu a lot more than Mojima since I beat the game, actually haven’t touched Mojima since then. I find Kiryu’s fight styles more fun and satisfying, especially his third fighting form. Mojima is great too, but I enjoy Kiryu more as a playable character. I, however, believe that Mojima does have a more interesting and heart warming/breaking story than Kiryu by a long shot. This whole game was absolutely beautiful and very well done. I played 30 hours of the game to beat it, and it only took me three days... 30 hours... in 3 days....

I like both the characters quite a bit and both of their stories, but man am I having a hard time enjoying playing as Kiryu.

He's so slow and I keep getting stunlocked, knocked to ground, then getting hit and stunlocked as soon as I stand up over and over again. Playing as him is beyond frustrating while playing as Majima is a lot more fun and feels a lot more fair.

if you get stunlocked you're using the wrong stance against that enemy, switch to Beast and you can block the damage and then dish out some as well =)

Only time I've really had a problem getting stunlocked was when I had the autobiography equipped.

the only style I use for kiryu is rush, because the others feel too slow

Eh, Majima's story had good moments but for the most part it felt like a forced love story. I'm probably biased but I'd always be kind of bummed when it switched to Majima's story & get really hyped when it switched back to Kiryu. I loved Kiryu's bromance with Nishiki & his character development was great. Pretty unpopular opinion but yeah.

"waves hand" of course I like Majima more than Kiryu. This is, after all, much more of a Majima game than a Kiryu game. This is literally the origin of the "beast". WIth this title they gave him a personality, a real backstory, a fantastic introduction and set the tone for things to come in a logical way. As a matter of fact, as soon as I could switch characters (20 hours ago) I stopped playing Kiryu alltogether. I've been doing 40 hours of Majima substories and boy I'm a part of the fanclub allright.

Majima deserves his own series of spinoffs. There's still stuff worth telling. Also counting the end of Ai's substory in the Cabaret Czar minigame, I feel like they openly wanted to test the waters, that might be a retcon for "the other girl in '92" for future spin offs.

I like majima. But I like Kiryu farrrrr better. And this may be unpopular opinion, but I hate the break dance style and think it's literal garbage.
Fang Sep 2, 2018 @ 6:21pm
Kiryu's brawler stance is garbage at first, but now that I've got it well upgraded I'd say it's the best of the three stances. Evasive enemies get caught thanks to the superior tracking, the damage is better than Rush, and you can use any attack (normal, heat, or grab) WHILE the enemy is hitting you to interrupt them. Combined with the powerful heat attacks it destroys everything.

Beast is still useful when surrounded by a ton of weak goons though.
