Should I play Yakuza 2 on PS2?
I've beaten Yakuza in PS2 for the first time but never gave Yakuza 2 a chance at the time since it was in english and I was bad at it at that time. But now that Yakuza Kiwami is finally arriving Steam (and probably Yakuza Kiwami 2) I'm in the stop where I don't know if is a good idea to just wait to Kiwami 2 or play the ♥♥♥♥ out of Yakuza 2 from PS2.

(Sorry for bad english :P)

Yakuza 6 is rumoured for a PC port based on an entry in a Sega financial report. If you're don't have access to a PS4 to play Kiwami 2 & are going to be waiting for it on PC, you could be waiting a long time.

Goro turned out to be so popular because of this game they added playable Goro chapters in Yakuza 2:Kiwami. Its for the moment only on PS4, PC have no release window yet for Yakuza 2, just Yakuza 0, Yakuza 1 and for some odd reason Yakuza 6 (Maybe a typo?) But if it make enough money on PC they will probably release them all on PC too. Yakuza 3 just got a PS4 remaster in Japan.

I've noticed that some folks say that the Kiwami games are quite a bit different from their PS2 predecessors, with K2 being the most divisive among people (though not as much as 6).

Honestly? I'd say to get a PS4 and play the remake and the remasters (if they get localized, anyways) in the event Sega decides to not release the entire franchise to PC. Just stick to getting physical copies of the game if you're worried about resale value if Kiwami 2/6/PS3 games (of which you can play via RPCS3 already, but I understand many don't view emulation as being legitimate for what are a lot of baseless reasons, to be frank).

Granted, if Sony can pull their heads out of their asses on backwards compatibility and can have actual, on the HDD/disc backwards compatibility with both the PS4 and PS3 for the PS5 (rumor has it it's using some Ryzen-variant of a CPU, and Sony's developed their own infrastructure based on their x86 processors from what I've read with their own graphical API and everything), then I'd understand why you'd want to wait on Spider-Man and Kiwami 2, but in this changing industry that's becoming more anti-consumer each and every day, I wouldn't put much faith in Sony using common sense and making their entire PS library available on one device in what would be a success story like that of the PS3 in terms of the sheer amount of games available!

You can sort of play them, but not really. It's not a very enjoyable experience, to put it lightly. You should stick to emulating 1&2 (they emulate really well and look great upscaled) and playing 4 & 5 on PC trough PSNow if it's available in your region. 3 isn't on there, but they cut so much from the western version you aren't missing THAT much anyway.

Yes you totally should so you could compare. Some people claim originals are better than Kiwami.
Those people have some crazy nostalgia goggles on, I played 1&2 on the Ps2 more then 12 years ago and no, no they're not better.

that's personal taste, my dude. the only thing Kiwami 1 has going for it against the original is the fact that it doesn't have the awful dubbing that the original release of 1 received in the west. the Majima Everywhere thing was downright annoying and they didn't even really remake the game fully - it used the original PS2 animations in every cutscene. I can't speak for 2 as I haven't played Kiwami 2 yet, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the original Y2. it's actually one of the best, if not the best, Yakuza games.

I do agree with that Y2 is my favorite Yakuza, plotwise, the pacing was amazing. But outside of that Kiwami 2 did everything better.
