I'm not experienced enough with it to explain what to do, but there's ways to kind of cheese those tables or at least draw them out longer until you win.
There's tons of threads with people venting their frustrations about Mahjong.
I played it in Kiwami and was infuriatied, after AI call Riichi in FIRST step.
1) Always drop dragon and wind tiles (dragon tiles are very rare, and wind one's need a correct current wind)
2) Create a combination (like pairs,triples, straight's and etc.)
3) If AI call Riichi, play VERY carefull and drop tiles which was dropped by another AI's.(Example, AI drop 4 bamboo, and other with Riichi didnt took it.). Its better to lose some points with all others players, when lose HUGE amount of points for Ron.
4) NEVER steal others dropped tiles. It's get harder to create any combination, you will unable to call Riichi. Steal only when you have Riichi and Ai dropped needed tile (Ron option)
