Green Shard
I have played over 100 hours and have yet to come across ONE green shard. Any ideas?

Since the green shard has a chance of spawning randomly, like most other rare mined resources, you may not find it as often as common resources.
Though, I am finding pretty odd you haven't found any of these after 100 hours of gameplay - must be really bad luck.
It's a shard that can spawn in mostly maps, and it is most likely you'll have bigger chances of finding green and blue ones comparing with the other colored shards, but, for a little help, I suggest you to go to the maps that are most likely to spawn rare resources, like Burning Sands, Amber Hills, Cultsberg. If devs didn't change Land Base that much since one of the latest patches, you may find one there too. Dorado is a smaller map so also give it a try. It may take some trips to these maps until you get a few of them, but hopefully they'll be spawning in.

Also, have you been into Kitsune's Den cave? There is one right at the beginning of that cave, left side of the first section close to some amanita mushrooms. - this is a fixed spawn for the green shard but it will only spawn once, doesn't respawn once you mine it.

Mostly shards spawn points are also random in terms of map locations, so, whenever you get to a high place in a map, use your crossbow or sniper scope to look around the area.

I usually find these things randomly when I'm not looking for them lol

I totally forgot about those, thanks for the reminder :). Yes I think it's 2 of them on that small cave.

The green shards seem to be more rare. I've done all the upgrades and I'm just collecting the shards now. I have quite a few of the others and only 1 green.

I've picked up several of them since I've started playing in my old saved game, and that was since a little more than a year ago lol. But I think you're right - I don't seem to find them in the same frequency I would before. Of course in some maps they're rare random spawns, but I've been at times finding other colored shards than green ones. I suppose the green shards should be the ones spawning more, compared with the blue ones, etc, since they're used to upgrade your tools between the levels +1 and +3.

Must be RNG, we never changed the spawn rate

Yes I thought you did not, but I also thought their random spawn would be more frequent than the other shards.

Thank you, everyone for your input. So far I've only found one, will try to find the ones in NOVA.

I have trouble seeing certain shards, and I think some shards are harder to spot that others. I think the blue and green shards are hard to spot because the crystals in both are shorter, the crystals spread out more (instead of standing upright), and they blend into the grass.
I used to find lots of green shards, but now I don't because the grass has increased.
