How much longer is the Hollow Area story
I'm at the part where Kirito and Philia stumbled upon a church and did a quest in hopes of it being a karmaquest.

How much is left from that storyline? I'm seriously tired of the Hollow Area at this point....

What? You've barely even started it. Did you hope it would only be like 5 minutes long or something? And the hollow area is where the real game is at. The Aincrad stuff can't compare. If you're already getting bored, then this game is clearly not for you.

I'm all the way to the southern area of the map. Even this is barely started?

For the record I am 43 hours into the game already... had my fair share of getting sidetracked rather than focusing on story progression.

The Hollow Area has 6 regions. 5 of which are a part of the main story.

Do you mean you're at Graceleaf Bay? Or are you still at Selvendys' Forest? If you're only at the latter, then yeah, that's barely that far in. If you're at the former, you're about half-way through the story. I'd know what you mean by a church, off the top of my head, if you were more specific, like which region you are on and what map/dungeon you were actually in.

The former. The side event was located at Bastia Gate Remnant.

It was a little side event where Kirito and Philia went on a sidequest hoping it unlocks a karma quest but it turns out to be not, then Kirito goes to ask Argo about karma quests, meanwhile creepy Laughing Coffin Guy creeps up on Philia, talks her into an existential crisis, then tells her to lure Kirito into a trap.

I guess I am halfway through then.

I was running around being distracted by Hollow Missions so much even the background music is chipping away my sanity bit by bit at this point..... Curse my tendency of getting swayed by side content!

No. I was trying to do the Hollow Area first.

Hollow mission are not worth your time just yet unless you want to grind for that sweet OSS and op hax cheat skills that no one else but you have access to. Here's to tell whether or not you're close to finishing the hollow story. The entire story will bring you around the hollow map in a anti-clockwise direction which will eventually bring you close to where you started. The last area would then be in the centre of the entire map. Once you're there that will be your last "region" before you "finish" the hollow storyline.

The hollow storyline here is actually the main storyline for this game. Aincrad is technically just there for the sake of progressing to actually finish the game, though there is a story there too, the hollow area is where you'd be spending 90% of your time in. That includes farming weapons, implements and dlc bosses.
