How to feed Cat?
Cat says it eats Raw Fish, Raw White Meat, and Milk, all of which I have. The cat is Hungry.

What do I do?

Ok, I tested it, and I think it feels fine to change it like this:

  • Cats and Dogs will now *also* be affected by the Creature food column, to avoid confusion, and so that you are not obliged to have all your Pips eat raw meat if the dog wants to eat

So expect that for tomorrow's patch!

Answer: I had Raw Fish and Raw White Meat disallowed for Pips, and since Cat is an animal but is not an Animal I did not realize this would prevent the Cat from eating. My Milk was all used in Cheese production.

Cat in dotAGE is a type of Pip, yes!
I have all raw meats disabled for consumption by pips. I don't want them to waste food by eating raw before cooking it when there's other food to eat - especially since raw meat turns into much more cooked meat.

Once the cat shows up though, I either have to re-enable raw meat consumption for *all* pips or just let the cat perpetually starve and take the hunger penalty. Neither option feels great.

Maybe pets like the cat should follow the animal consumption setting? Or perhaps add a new category for pets could be in order.

Food priority settings would also help - where you can give a priority number or otherwise sort food types to control what gets eaten first. Especially if things are smart enough to skip over food items they can't eat anyway.

The problem is that the cat is not a pet, it is a pipfolk.

What we should probably have now is a special food menu that controls what the pipfolk eat. It wouldn't have to be very big because most of the new folk have very limited diets.

With 1.6 and the addition of Folks, the VIP Cat caused this (mischievous cat!!!), and I see how people would get confused, I'm thinking whether making him be counted among "creatures" as an exception

I want to add more food controls down the road, in a future QOL update

That's fantastic, thank you! I'm looking forward to getting the cat event again. :)
