White Robe or Red Robe
I purchased the pc game back in June 2020 and got a WR fairly quickly. Now because I was very good but because an awful lot of people had come in and helped show me where all the glyphs were to get the robe. I ended up with full embroidered robe within a few short weeks because I didn't have a lot of responsibilities (children, school, work, etc.); all I had to do was concentrate on the game and struggle through learning the more simple things like flying and walking, jumping and chirping. I love this game.
Yes, I love this game. However, I'm not a fancy flyer and I can't FP on demand nor CB either. And, those wonderful OOB places? Well, yes, I can get into some of them if my companion is patient enough to work with me, but I'm not always....well, let's just say that we might get back into the game by accident than by skill.
In either, case. The reason for this note is to say this. I wear the WR mostly because I like being able to regenerate and for no other reason. The RR is limited. Thus, I do not venture in the RR except on a very rare occasion.
Now that I've got that off my chest. Have a nice day y'all ;):steamhappy:

i actually like being in red quite often. though i do some fancy flying with it. the simple dive boost can help a ton, to quickly reach the next banner or flyer and its just putting camera down, then up (and upon up, stop pressing fly).

imo the magic of journey is to get to know your companion. i can meet high advanced red robes or white robes that dont know that their chirp will load my scarf.. and then they complain to me for dropping them .. ahem.

once i got a feeling for their abilities, i try to adjust my gameplay.. sometimes i migth try to show a trick or so. its just much more fun to get along together, then trying to chose your companions ("ah this one cant fly, meh, i better quit", a journey, where you dont tandem fly all the time, can be a nice difference to other journeys. all companions are precious!)

I'm really, really new at this stuff. So, after ETRocket showed me quite a bit yesterday and having read your comment today I can see that there might not be much advantage to a WR's regeneration. Skill is definitely my downfall and Imma needing to practice, practice, practice. Still, I'll be wearing the WR so I can at least regen until I get the hang of that boost thingy XD
One thing though.....I can at least do a FP and a CB at BB, thanks to you!

hi there rebbi! :)

being red - not really limited - counts mostly for in the levels though.

but with a good companion everything is possible. i had journeys in red, travelling with another red and we had long oob tours and other funny things. i forgot my robe color even.
chargeboosting in red is possible with a companion too ^^

skill in the sense of "i really want to learn this". all is training imo. there are people that do that one thing, for hours... i am not that person, so all i know took me years to learn :D

in my opinion, being able to use the flyers well (aiming and chirping), dive boosting and knowledge of some CB points is quite enough for most things in journey. although i wouldnt say someone has to learn the cb
its all up to them...

that BB journey with you was epic!! :)

Thank you for posting info. It helps to know what experienced players think about the differences and/or advantages of the garb as well as how they go about playing. I came from the arena shooting environment but lan playing with one person, not competitive.
Yes, I've charged in RR, done OOB as well but found I was limited because my experience was limited.
Learning to use a controller and camera is really, really new for me. Am definitely having a fine time experimenting new ways of doing things let alone learning new things from watching other players especially those RR's that at first seem to be noobies but definitely are not even if those decorations are only showing one or two lines across the bottom XD.

Love this game, and for the most part am beginning to run into players that have some wonderful 'tricks' up their sleeves. It's quite fun to watch some of them as they dash across the desert like Sonic XD; some even come back and chirp like crazy. Only wish I knew what stories they were trying to tell me so I could join in on their fun ;)

Anyway, enjoy your day Lirewu :p2cube:

sometimes experienced players are trying to actually show how to do things.
like flying, first they make you stand somewhere, then they show (observe how the figure moves, when they press fly button), then its your turn to repeat :)

if you want to progress quicker, come to the journey discord and arrange a journey with one of those super-sonic-flyers :D
or.. well. spoil everything and get it served.. on the journey gamepedia wiki under fancy flying
(feedback would be welcomed, this section was rather recently filled and still might need some teweaks).

i'm planning on sticking with red if I can. A friend told me it's number of times you complete the game up to 4.

I'm with you. I like the white robe for the regeneration, but I'm still working on intermediate skills and getting the last couple of achievements. When an experienced Companion shows up, I just make it clear I'm following and let them know with a couple chirps if I want to go a little off path to grab a symbol for my scarf (e.g., the whale's den). I got caught by a Companion today while I was dancing in the ribbons in the UG. I was a little embarrassed. :p2cube:

omg. happened long time ago, i was flying at the kelp room. just from kelp to kelp up and down in circles...
and suddenly i recognise someone standing at the hill before the kelp room. i had the same feeling :)
asking myself, how long did they watch me? what are they thinking now? a kid playing maybe? :D
