Capitalism lab?
Do you guys have plans to release capitalism lab on steam?

We currently do not have any plan to release Capitalism Lab for Steam, due to various reasons. One of the reasons is that there is a technical issue of integrating SteamWorks into Capitalism Lab.

I want to add that I cant imagine there is any sort of demand for Capitalism Lab that would pay for jack squat of a team at all. 396 reviews for Capitalism 2 in like what 8 years??? They have had a high of 20 concurrent players in the last 3 years? those are crazy bad numbers.

Wouldn't be surprised if they go an entire week selling 1 or 2 copies of capitalism 2 on steam and not much better with capitalism lab. You literally have to stumble across them in a necro thread from 12 years ago.

It's staggeringly ironic lack of business strategy if they could apply just a little of their simulation knowledge to real life business they would have something great.
the Problem is the pricing as well.

Cap 2 can be aquired cheap. Lab costs without DLC 20 €. You can get a lot of good games for that price, And instead of biting the bullet and making better sales than 10% what they have now, ( or the bundle with other old games noone asked for and promoting it at 67% off), they keep on insisting to sell the game for a high price.

As others noted, for a game developer who makes a game about capitalism, they sure don't do it correctly.

Age doesn't diminish the quality or its price.

"Better" in what? Being Capitalism 2? No you can't. Its a niche product with specific appeal. No amount of Rimworld or Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous or Baldurs Gate 3 will replace Capitalism 2. Even managment games like captain of industry are still not doing same things and at depth of Capitalism. So your point is at best moot point at worst kind of dumb.

still doesn't justify the price of $20, for what you get.

It doesn't matter that you are trying to judge them for their price point by comparing incomparable games. It is moot point dude. Comparing prices of juice vs prices of cars means ♥♥♥♥ all. It doesn't matter. None of those games offer experience of Capitalism or epseically Labs.

Comparing prices of trucks, family cars and speed bolides. All of those are cars, used for widely different reasons and context. If person need something specific he buys that specific thing, for wtv price he is ready to pay for it. So yeah your point is still moot.

yeah, and still that game sells itself for a price not so old AAA games are sold. In other words, a Ford Focus wants to be a BMW X5. The price of the game is too high for what it offers.

Are those AAA have same features as Capitalism? No. So no, it isn't Ford Focus it is highly specialized truck which is needed only for few selected people, who are ready to pay for it.

that's the thing, more people would be ready to pay for it, if it was pricing itself more sensible.

The point is that there are games that are simply too niche to penetrate the market and I believe that the authors of Capitalism Lab believe that this is the case with their game.
Depending on how niche something is, even if it's distributed for free, it won't have a very large audience, in which case the only solution is for the authors to charge fans a considerably higher price to keep things going.
I honestly don't care about the price of Capitalism Lab, what I do care about is the game's strong DRM. It's the real reason I've never bought the game from their website.

Less price doesn't equal more income or sales. That is a big missconception people have that cheapier == more sales. No.
