Comparing to other Dungeon Crawlers
Hello everybody, I have passing interest n the game and I was wondering:
How does it compare to games like Class of Heroes and Etrian Oddyssey?
I enjoyed both those games and if this is anything like them then I'm sure I can get some enjoyment out of it! I looked through some of the reviews but none of them go too into this.
Thanks for your time ^^

this is false, though you can probably treat yourself to some medications and leave through some battles, but that would be highly ineffective and tiresome. You probably judge by easy-modo you used to play.

I judge by comparing the expert mode on this to Etrian Odyssey. Its easy, other than monster girl fights when i try to focus on destroying clothing parts and maintaining a high aura combo so i get a lot of bonus exp, the other fights are just press x and hold L (only exception to this is where a h monster with a heart appears, i want at least a 4 combo cause with zero the chances of getting the job panties are kinda low).

I would recommend Dungeon Travelers 2 on the Vita, or Sakura Dungeon on the PC for something with a cute anime style. This one has no depth... and the port was so lazily done, you might as well play it on a vita emulator...

Here are some more DRPG:

This is a lot better than Dungeon Travellers 2 and I really have no idea why that game is so highly rated. But Demon Gaze would be the best option if you have a Vita. It's certainly nowhere near as good as Etrian Odyssey though.

Noothing close to Etrian bro, this game is a JRPG but i would not call it Dungeon Crawler, even on highest difficulty the normal fights are a breeze, push auto and watch how they fight. I hoped for something better as all japanese Dungeon Crawlers on PC up until know are just plain boring, especially the Stranger of Sword City familly (games based on same pricinples, same races, classes and basically everything is the same examples would me Demon Gaze but its not on PC, but every dungeon crawler by this developer is same boring stuff). If you enjoy JRPG you might like it, if you are for a Dungeon Crawler like Etrian than its not for you, just waith for Etrian 5 which is coming in 1 or 2 months if i remember corractly.

when you reaching late-game (normal-expert), even lv99 can't help you from not getting wiped out easily

EO certainly does a much better job... but I recommended DT2 over this because they are both in the same vein with the girls...

I like DT2 better than MC because:
- customizable class and skills...
- everyone of the same class type share the same class/skill trees, but with a different trait. There is a bit more meaning in picking which girl to use, but also lets you focus on girls you like.
- In post game, you will need to plan your group around each dungeon's class requirement to pass certain checkpoint... this forces some group variety on you and make you think a little bit
- early/mid/end game has different focus, group setup (e.g. witch vs. magical princess)
- lots of easter eggs/things to do.
- And if you are a masochist, there are 220 sub-events to unlock involving the characters, which gives a bit more back story about the characters. This gives the D2 characters more depth than the acquire and forget characters in MC...

Bring it, you think etrians post dungeons are what? On max level the first fight can be a straight game over if you didnt carefully consider your party and skill builds. This game neither has classes nor skill to customize the characters which by default makes it easier, even the equips as i saw now are not really game changers, so i dont really think its actually a hard game, at least not to someone who played games like etrian series or darkest dungeon.

You just complain and cry too much honestly. EO isn't even a hard dungeon crawler, just stop QQin and acting like a 5 year old child, it gets old quick. You must be young or just so petty. Every post you make is pure negative, and toxic. You have nothing intelligent to add to any conversation.

I couldn't have said it better myself. It's clearly evident Shineek has no idea what he is talking about. I ****ing dare you to keep the game on Expert difficulty and see if the the 5th dungeon all the way to post game is a cakewalk.

Not to mention, you're still in the earlier parts of the game despite it being very easy. Oh well, I'll just continue to watch you cry all day since I already 100% the game long ago.

And Etrian Odyssey? Is that all you can bring to the table when it comes to dungeon crawlers? LOL
Asakura Shinichi Aug 22, 2017 @ 11:33pm
I brought Darkest Dungeon in, and a few post back i was mentioning stranger of sword city, but obviously trolling and being negative to other is all you think, so you probably didnt notice that. Its kinda funny someone telling me im toxic when hes verbally assaulting me, trying to tilt me and insult me. Fact is the op asked if this game can be compared to etrian, and the answer will be no, no classes, no skill builds, is easier and does not really make you grind that much.

I still think you people are crazy for not considering Wizardry 8. If you don't own that and you love EO for it's gameplay, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. And make no mistake, the gfx aren't great but w8 oozes personality because of it's great voice actors and easily makes up for that.

But get a mod to speed up it's combat a little.

Ive played 2 games from the wizardry series dont know which ones and it was long ago, way before etrian. Ive enjoyed them but im not mentioning them cause it looked like the op looks for a comparison to japanese dungeon crawlers.
iemander Aug 23, 2017 @ 2:25pm
I would definitely take a look at them, Wizardry is/was extremely popular in Japan and pretty much kickstarted the jRPG genre in it's infancy. So popular in fact that the franchise was bought by the Japanese at some point and converted it in a jRPG series.

And Wizardry 8 is really just that good, imo it's an incredible dungeon crawler and has aged gracefully. The others are harder to get into.
