Leveling up spells
Just a short note for those who do not know. Leveling up spirits is twice as fast, when the characters have their weapons out. So always try and head to an area with enemies.

MP cost of a spell does not seem to have any impact, so always spam the cheapest one.

I feel this is the annoying part of the game, maybe this will help some people get through it faster.

You forget something:

Use your spells on orbs (don´t choose the right one) and keep some nuts with you.

From Lv. 0-1 you get 9% per spell

From Lv. 1-2 you get 8% per spell

From Lv. 2-3 you get 7% per spell

Levelign spells is faster thanks to the hotkey and thanks to the fact you can bring up allies' rings even while the character you control is affected by a spell (but not when the caster is affected by a spell).

For example, if you control Randi and you are leveling up Undine, use Remedy (because it is 1MP). Cast Remedy on the Sprite and then cast Remedy on Randi, then cast Remedy on the Sprite, etc by using the hotkey system. It's faster than the original, by far. Same goes for casting on orbs/enemies with attack magic.

Just pick the lowest MP spell and go to town. I don't think you can infinitely cast on the same enemy anymore though (being able to get 900 damage out of 10 freeze spells on the same rabite).

BE CAREFUL OF THE WIND PALACE!

I found an infinite loop there, where if you talk to Grandpa, he will heal you, and save your game. When I did this, as soon as I hit the confirm button to exit out of his dialogue, he immediately healed me and saved my game again and I got stuck in the infinite loop until I had to close the game down.

I haven't played since then, and I did confirm that re-loading your save will get you out of this, but it was getting late, and I haven't tested if that was a fluke or this always happens.

with the new hotkeys it's so much faster to level up spells than with the snes version. Just put the spell you want to use for levelling up for the girl on on hotkey and for the elf on the other hotkey.

An earlier exploit is Rusalka at the water temple. Not quite as fast I suppose, but still.

Also any inn is a welcome opportunity to burn through her remaining MP.

Well... the sprite WAS called an "Elf" in the French version of the game at least. Might be why he called it that :D

On topic : I agree with the "wind palace leveling" trick, that IS the best place to level the girl's magic. Reminder : you can go as high as you have mana seed in your status screen.

I don't get it, how does that help? That is the normal percentage that you get on any mob. It is always 9 - (current spell level) %. So why waste the mana on orbs when you can kill enemies with it and get real exp at the same time?

@others Thanks for the wind palace hint. Didn't know the girl gets full exp there. Will try :-)

You can grind the girl's magic anywhere you like, but if you do it in a place where your weapons aren't out, it only counts for half experience. The Wind Palace glitch can usually be cleared by closing the game down and loading up a save.

One thing I can say about grinding the sprite's magic- start with Luna, when you get it, then head to the Forest of Seasons and continue to cast while refilling thier magic with Magic Absorb. As others have suggested, always go with the cheapest spells to grind (though this means the girl's version of Dryad is still a pain in the rump at 6 MP a go).

Yeah I had the same issue.
Noticed that the heal+save gets activated when you touch the old man.
So I just ran in there hard and it got me locked into his conversations.

When I tried bumping into him very carefully, I wasn't getting stuck in that loop.

I figured out how to avoid the Grandpa Glitch.

After you save your game, hold the opposite direction (try to move away from him) on your D-Pad, Keyboard, or Analog Stick to move away from him before pushing the confirm button.

Works every time.

I just got caught in the infinite loop at wind palace lol. This really, really sucks
maestro Feb 18, 2018 @ 5:30pm
There's an easy way to fix it: try to walk away from gramps (hold the key/direction away from him) when you hit the confirm button for the last time. Works every time for me.

wind palance is rly 1993 - better just do your magic during playthrough , if you consider pushing it to 8 - you may set the item count to x12 so you can have 600 mp in ntus with you . and its nowadays new the mp is full i think when you lvl up - so if you wanna do acm's you need to grind certain mobs 100' of times for items and orbs - so magic to lvl 8 will be done way before weapons to 9 and get all gear can take some time as well
