i got a patch today

maybe its a library dependancy update for certain configurations of PCs?
Davoodinator Mar 23, 2018 @ 2:42pm
seems like nothing was actually changed?
rainwarrior Mar 23, 2018 @ 7:34pm
These are the changes I noticed:

1. Character portaits on ring menu. (Huge improvement, IMO.)
2. Bringing up the ring menu when allies are offscreen teleports them to you.
3. Flying around on flammie, pressing RB no longer switches to top-down view?

Supposedly it also fixed some bugs? There were some PS4 patch notes which I think apply to the PC patch as well.

One time I had one of the characters disappear, and switching to them put me into a black screen that I couldn't escape from. This seemed to be one of the bugs described. This only happened to me once, but I've played a lot more since the patch. (Have had the game hang or go black twice since, but I just closed the program and loaded my auto-save.)

1. no, this update was made like 2 weeks ago.
2. this always happened since feb 15.
3. huh, it isnt really important if you know where you want to land.

1. I believe there is only one patch at this point, so yes it was 2 weeks ago pushed to steam but I presumed OP didn't download it until 2 days ago when they made their post.

Game version is still 1.1 for you, right? It is for me and I haven't seen a second patch.

2. Might be true. I didn't notice it until immediately after the patch. When I had an "offscreen player" bug prior to the patch it definitely didn't cause them to return to me then, though.

3. Not important for finding my way around, but I liked the world map and was enjoying looking down at it from high above. When they took the feature away I noticed immediately. (The original SNES game let you do this too, BTW.)
On the keyboard and mouse at least, with the first patch implemented, you can use the following functions to switch between top-down view and horizon view:

Scroll Menu Up
Switch Menu Left/Assign Shortcut L
Switch Menu Right/Assign Shortcut R

All those functions are customizable with both keyboard and mouse. I don't know whether they are with a controller, though... will try playing the game with a PS3 controller and see how I go with that. Haven't got Flammie at the moment with my current playthrough, but I'm getting there. :)

I can vouch that a new patch happened too. I got another one and no it wasn't the ring menu patch, i already got that like 2 weeks ago. This was something else and i got it yesterday.
Are you certain that this wasn't a patch for the Steam Client bootstrapper? Was it definitely for this game itself? :o

The game it's self was "patching" in the downloads section of steam. so i can only assume the game it self patched

I got a patch today, and I've had the game installed since launch. It's not the March 14th patch.

The easiest and most reliable way to see if it was a steam patch or an actual patch is to check the "last modified" dates on the game's files. Those dates will change in the event of an actual patch, but not when it's a steam patch.

Edit: Typo, clarification.

Okay, I checked. Last patch for Secret of Mana was 13 March, so whenever this other patch was, it's a Steam patch. Secret of Mana has only been patched once... :)

I bought this game the day it came out, but I have never received an update. Other games are updating automatically as usual (I got an update for A Hat in Time when I logged into Steam today). My Secret of Mana files are still all dated February 15. I've double checked all my settings, and Secret of Mana is set to auto-update. How can I get the March 13 update?
