Magic Special Effects at Level 8.99
Will we see the return of special effects when reaching magic levels of 8.99? I've always like them as they were either bigger than normal or animated. Salamando's had what, 3 dragons swirl around the screen.

Also, will magic still be cast as it were in the original? "Quick-casting" I hope so.

I hope so. That made the end-game for me. I kinda like when games make you feel kinda overpowered at the end, and then make monsters to compensate (and some that just get ruined).

I also kinda wish they'd correct the balance issue with chain-casting between Popoi and Primm. I remember semi-recently replaying this game and as long as you have 4 walnuts you can kill bosses without ever having Randi attack. Also, leveling up magic is boring...

I was all about leveling magic, but yeah, the grind was so boring. Best place to level up was right outside of town, but usually for Primm's spells, unless there were mobs outside, like rabbites. It was cool seeing 999 when you're done, then would run back into town, hit the Inn, restore MP.

They better fix spells, spamcasting was dumb AF.

Ahhh the old days when I actually had the time and patience to max all my spells and weapons EACH playthrough...

The spells at max lvl had cool effects but it annoyed me that the max lvl animations didn't allow for casting of other spells in the meantime, unlike lower level versions.

Anyone remember the lvl 9 weapon chests? The drop rates on those things...let's just say you'd probably become a lottery millionaire before you got all those lvl 9 weapons.
I would always grind the next to last area in Purelands for chests and level up magic and weapons before moving on to the last area and then the fortress. The fortress is where you'll find the remaining orbs and only certain mobs would drop them, so grinding for them was tedious.

I'm curious about the combat system. Before when you cast a spell, everything on the screen froze while the spell effects played. That was annoying for anyone who wasn't casting a spell, and I played this with my friends when we were little kids way back in the day.

Only the ones targeted by a spell froze. It was SD3 (aka "SoM2") where the whole screen froze for _any_ special skill.

You could do that without walnuts as popoi gets a MP drain spell from Luna spirit, most bosses are not immune to that :|
Either way, I remember reading somewhere they prevented chain casting to cheese bosses now.
Also your other characters dont freeze while you;re in the menu of casting animation.

I remember grinding at the mountain place with all those egg birds.
Halfway there!
