Why is this labeled a rhythm game?
Seriously, I have a feeling that the creators of this game have no idea what "rhythm" means.

Vib Ribbon had it clear as day - you had to hit appropriate buttons perfectly in time with the beat.

Bit.Trip Runner, on the other hand, has me hit Spring perfectly on the spring pad, but Jump or Kick a bit before the obstacle (it's the obstacles that are placed precisely on the beat). Not to mention there are infrequent oddly placed gold bars that need a totally off-beat action to collect (like, jump WAY before an obstacle, to land right behind it). I'd assume I'd need some audio/video delay setting, which most rhythm games have, but no, the way some actions are on-beat and some are off-beat makes it obvious it's not a sync problem.

So... What gives? What's the point of an OFF-beat rhythm game? Is this game actually about being able to filter out the beat and play it like a regular platformer, as the beat is there just as an evil distraction?

What you don't understand is that tags are not picked by the developers of the game, they are voted by the community. You can go and vote the tags that you think best suit this game.

i think thare is a type of beat to the game to make it a rhythm game.

Thank you. It was making me really mad that I can play instruments but not this game. :steamsalty::steamsalty:
i think the logic is that sometimes the audio cue obstacles have CAN help with obstacles that are back to back; think of the sets of orange and purples blocks at the start of 3-10
doesn't make it a rhythm game of course but i kinda get it
