ToG - 702 hrs play time, so far.
If you like the Mount and Blade games with a passion than probably this.
If you have the money both because i play the hell out of both
I prefer Blade and Sorcery.
I agree with this and will add..
Blade and sorcery combat physics is quite a bit more advanced , however ToG recently referenced working with that developer to update the physics in this game and it has come a LONG way in the past year when that update hit.. Making it a game I've since come back to enjoying rather than saying "Dang I wish ToG had the same physics as Blade N Sorcery" .. They are more alike in terms of fast paced combat and slaughtering people left and right.
But if you're up for more of a 1v1 or 1v10 situation but you want a better more polished and advanced physics experience (and 1000's of mods that make it potentially a whole new game each day) .. B&S will win there .. If you want combat on a large scale , Army Vs, Army instead , 50+ VS 50+ on the same battlefield .. Then ToG is the only thing that's gonna come close to that reality and that includes every over VR Game you could compare it to.. It's got THAT niche on lockdown..
I play B&S more simply because of the mods like the new maps , spells , and weapons people CONSTANTLY create every day... But I'm gonna fire this one up now to try out the voice commands and play with the updated physics changes that are becoming more n more polished. They are BOTH worth buying. I'd pay the $600 for a rift S if the only game it had on it was Blade & Sorcery LOL.. And I'd probably the same way about purchasing an entire game system just to play this one too .. If mods were as plentiful with ToG .. I wouldn't say "Probably" there ;)
Another good point , however a mod is in progress that offers an intense level of RPG style progression including new skills and spells (Amnesia is what its called I think?)... as well as the developer introducing other elements in the game later to have it become something more than a pure sandbox..such as a procedural dungeon experience.
