Gust made a game - they probably know how it plays best more than you, no? How about you let them guide you the first time?
oh joy one of you elitest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "ruining the dificulty curve" did you ever think i dont give even half of a ♥♥♥♥ about that not every game needs to be balls to the wall hard it dont make some one a filthy casual for just wanting a simple fun game (like the first one was it put all its challange into the post game for if you wanted a challange)
the first game was not hard and i enjoyed it regardless this game punishes you for exploring
you cant use what ever weapon you want as you need specefic servan to cross things
you cant just take your time and explore you have to rush things
i shouldnt have to go to new game plus just to get rid of a fake difficulty time limit
i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loved the first game its honeslty 1 of my fave RPGS ever i am so sorry that i like a moron though the sequel would be similar no no clearly i should have expected to get a very different experince how stupid of me
And you won't find a mission that really force you to bring servant to complete in main story quest. servant just unlock a shortcut that help you reach destination faster. In fact if you play it normally without rushing, your aluche will strong enough to decimate entire map before time limit run out. I beated last boss with LV33. 18:55 time limit and free 7 nights to run minor quest....all area unlock , all chest are grabed
After I examined skill tree, I maximize time limit skill and item drop first without a 2nd thought....because it is most benefit.
That was what I did as well (mostly cause nothing really seems interesting in the skill tree to begin with). I am currently on chapter 5 with 19 minutes before my heart explodes which gives me plenty of time to clear any mission.
Dont know saying this gonna make you feel better or not, but GUST know they f**ked it up. In the 1.00 version, you even have time limit in boss fight. You might spent 7mins to get to the event point and all the sudden you realize you have to beat a boss within 3mins.
Just two weeks after release, GUST declared they will remove boss fight time limit and NG+ moon phase in the later patch. Japanese player dont like this moon phase system either. This is why they remove NG+ moon phase so fast. I guess GUST really have some problems when developing multiple game. I am not saying this game is bad or GUST is bad. I mean, they can do better than that but clearly they didnt.
No, they are not going to totally remove moon phase, only in NG+. They release that declarement in the middle of Sep and release the patch in the end of Sep. It is the version you are playing now.
There are two DLC too. The first one has already been released in japan. The second one is about the story behind the boss.
This is a trend I see in games that have more emphasis on casual play or enjoying its art or being homages to retro games: Somewhat arbitrarily throwing in difficulty design meant for more hardcore gamers into such a game where there are lots of casual players too and forcing everyone to play in one style.
Some games can completely live on a single side of the spectrum of play styles, e.g. competing in an international tournament for a fighting game as opposed to a for-relaxation match-3+ puzzle game, but it seems that Nights of Azure 2 shouldn't.
Kind of similar to Ys games, and based on trailers and screenshots of Atelier series that I've seen (haven't played any Aterlier games), NIS has a lot more emphasis on visuals, story, and music over game design. This conveys that they have fewer people & less emphasis in their game design and development department as compared to visuals, story, and music. I would agree that NIS's developers focus on adding more options for casual play, including for hardcore games who just want a break & chill out for a while.
I remember reading an article about an interview with the director of Senran Kagura series. He said that Estival Versus was on the same release day as Bloodborne. He knew that it would nowhere be as popular as Bloodborne, even in Japan, but realized early on in the series' development that SK is a much more "chill-out" type of game. That's it's niche, and it should never change. People who play both types of games rack their brains over Bloodborne for a bit, and then destress with SK afterwards. This is exactly what happened in among his own development studio too, IIRC. Gust would do well to take a few notes from that book for the Nights of Azure series. (Also please add better sound effects and graphical effects to attack hits and swings for more impactful battle animations :( This game is severely lacking it for a hack-n-slash.)
