I certainly find the game gory enough; it's just they decided to do geysers of purple Lovecraft monster goo instead of Crimsonland red blood.
fwiw, I had to disable post-processing in graphics options to keep a consistent frame rate in this. Otherwise, the huger enemy hordes frequently caused me frame rate problems. Not even the most system-crushing FPS has overwhelmed my GTX 970 card the last couple years, but somehow this game has. :)
GTX 970 should be just fine with the game. Although this game can also be bit heavy on CPU, when monster count runs high.
