We too would love to see online coop, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen. The coop mode is local mode only, up to 4 players.
Doing an online multiplayer game takes resources. A lot of resources. Those resources have to come from somewhere. Usually it's not feasable for us indie developers to pursue online features as they are costly, troublesome and might prove useless in the end (unless the game is huge hit, finding players who are online might be difficult). In a world where only about 10% of games make profit, taking additional risks is not something most developers are willing to take.
That being said, we hope to have that game one day. :)
Maybe for the Sequal??
TESLA VS LOVECRAFT 2: THE REVENGE OF CTHULHU!
I will wait for it to be bundled then.
That said, Tesla vs. Lovecraft is extremely fun (!).
Since they aren't using a popular engine, it probably means they'll have to do the net code themselves, which is not only really time-consuming to be implemented, but also would require tons of effort, study and polishing to be properly done.
Adding online support for an already coded game is a nightmare, most of the stuff have to be recoded from scratch to deal with client replication and other network stuff. It's a huge job, and again, requires either proper experience or time to study/test it.
While I also would love their games to have online coop, I understand their limitation, and really hope one day they'll overcome this and dive into online coop as well.
Meanwhile, feel free to try something like NVidia Experience Share or Parsec Game Streaming to play it (or any other local coop only game) online.
Great game, really solid. Looking forward to playing co-op at my friend's house! =)
Yes, back in the old days before dial ups, and before DSL became a household item.. Sure, co-op usually only meant Splitscreen.
It doesn't take away the validity in his argument though.
Aaand since it's already marked as "local co-op" there's no reason for it to have the other co-op tag, since it'll never have Multiplayer anyways..
So in truth you're arguing over semantics, instead of providing some useful feedback.
The game supports "couch co-op" only. The tag system is quite vague and confusing. Local co-op can indeed imply LAN, so maybe having just the shared/split screen tag would be closer to truth. Couldn't find any mention of co-op in the game description either, so we could definitely improve that.
Is it simply that the team doesnt know how to do it from a programming stand point?
Thats acceptable if so. You cant force a cook to make something they dont know how to make.
But if its from a "we dont think its worth the resources to do it right now", then thats a whole different story going forward.
