This or Masterpiece Edition?
I thankfully bought this before it was delisted, if this is better/closer to the original Myst then do I really need to spend $25 on a game I own twice on Steam already

The original realMyst is slightly closer to the original in terms of appearance but will require more technical effort to get working as it was not updated for modern systems, which is why they removed it. The realMyst: Masterpiece Edition although a bit more different from the appearance of the original realMyst has nicer graphics and is made for modern systems.

I prefer this version, and am lucky I got it on Steam when I did. Fortunately I still have the original realMyst on CD as well. This game runs great for me in Windows 7 with Windows XP compatibility with my Titan Black cards and i7-3930K CPU, once I disabled the buggy Windows Games services. It runs even without doing that, but the buggy Microsoft Windows Gaems services causes rundll32 to load up the CPU for some reason.

That's the point. They were asking which version is better. Naturally, that's going to be subjective. There are a number of differences.

I never played OG Myst, I got the 10th anniversary Ed in 04-05. I bought Steam's Realmyst Mast Ed and except for the addition of Rime and excluding some of the visual glitches in the rotating tower on Myst I can't make out any gameplay or story differences. At best the graphics aren't as grainy as the 10th.
I prefer this one, though that's mostly nostalgia speaking, though I will say the RealMyst: Masterpiece addition looks kind of odd in places, too shiny and plastic and very "Unreal asset-y" if that makes sense.

Though the other new Myst remake seems pretty good from what I've seen so far, sans the missing age.
