It's not even close. It's so far off it's actually hilarious. The "it was all a dream" meme is getting old and is used in sooo much for fake spoiling. Heck, people are even using it with real life. It's the new hot thing since "Dumbledore dies"
It's been so long ago that it may have been the beginning of the meme. I'm glad that I wasn't spoiled though. And glad that I was right about the true heroine. Rin is my favorite Japanese name.
As an aside, have you watched the anime? I tried it but got turned off by the character design (too cutesy) and the first episode felt so rushed. How accurate is it to the anime if you've watched it?
of course there are some missing (nothing major though) things there is no way they could have put the whole novel in a 26 episode season + 12 from refrain (8 from ex but thats just another story)
episode 11 from refrain (killed me i was crying like a little girl xD)
as the art concerns i like them both not problems there from me
actually i like kanata (favorite) artstyle more in the anime that in the novel
The anime wasn't the worst, but it is in terms of spoiling a story that can't be contained by such a puny vessel, as it were.
There was no real hope they'd be able to adapt certain mechanics of the VN believably.
The second half of Rin 2 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 4? minutes long thing that happens while credits are rolling. Refrain is 5? episodes long. The female cast is made overly cutesy with way more fanservice scenes than the novel has. Several characters had their entire personalities rewritten.
Let's be real. It's dumbed down to fit the exact kind of fanbase JC Staff animes have. The ones who don't care about anything other than cute girls doing cute things with slight melodrama in there to make it feel like they were invested in something other than the cuteness. It's disgusting.

and in the novel the girls ARE overly Cute Especially Komari and Kud, the only one which i can agree that is made more "cute" over the novel is Rin and not THAT much
Seems like you wanted EVERY Single line of dialogue exactly as if is in the novel on the anime which of course cant never happen on adaptations

the anime is Not Bad, not great either if you dont like it or even hate it i can respect that but dont push your opinion on other people let em decide for themselves
The Refrain anime season was 12 episodes. At least one is the pancake party, another is Kurugaya's route (which is two episodes long) and the rest is setting up for Refrain itself.
The part about Rin2 being a montage was absolutely correct. So much crap happening in that route, and it's like that? Ugh. I remember being furious.
Also my waifus, Kurugaya's, route is probably the best and best animated part in the entire anime so at least my waifu got a good treatment there. I'd say the first season is the same or better than the VN overall but Refrain is better in the VN.
