Its far better than the anime. Honestly, most anime of visual novels are kinda crap in comparison since anime has to condense so much of the story down. So a character route may only last 2 or 3 episodes long, which imo isnt long enough for a proper route.

I didn't hate the anime, but as far as adaptations go it was missing a lot. You're not gonna get the full experience with the visual novel, but if the characters didn't appeal to you in the anime, then maybe it isn't for you.

How are we in 2017 and people still ask if anime adaptations of LN/VN are better than their source material? It's definitely much better than the anime, and even then, compared to many other anime adaptations that are a LOT worse, I would say the anime of LB! was at the very least from what can one expect good enough.

Thanks.

Then its probably not for me.
i'll maybe buy it when its for sale below 12 euro and give it a chance, but not for full price.

Yeah, the anime wasn't terrible and i enjoyed it but it doesn't (for me) every scratch the surface of what the VN had to offer, it mostly failed to make us feel like the game, you can't play through Haruka's route or Rin (2) without the feels flowing in the game (most routes to be fair, these are just examples) where the anime... well it skipped Rins whole route into a montage of slide show images (sad really, her route is directly intertwined with Refrain i know but still) and the other routes just didn't feel too emotional.
The game also has lots of fun moments missed in the anime which are brilliant laughs (the sleep over was great, both male and female choices as is many other extras added... and don't forget Masato's secret ending ;) )

Well, you've already ruined the experience for yourself if you watched the anime, assuming you watched to its entirety, but yes, the VN is better. That's pretty obvious, given how large the game is. You should know by now, the book is always better than the movie/show/etc.

The visual novel is far better. The characters get much better development and Rin 2 is fully fleshed out instead of essentially a summary. I always recommend playing the visual novel first for the story and then watch the anime to see your favorite scenes animated.

The anime was the biggest insult to Little Busters ever, how can anyone say it wasn't bad, it didn't even get the characters personalities right

Right? It wasn't as bad as the Rewrite anime, but like...

(tagging massive anime AND vn spoilers below)

When they animated Refrain and Kyousuke was still able to walk, I was kind of like...
wondering how they could miss the point so bad, when the novel flat out makes it a PLOT POINT that he couldn't do that. Half of the entire issue of his crawling to the leak would've been solved and there been no real struggle that made him loop countless times if he could walk.

I prefer the VN too, but the anime isn't that bad, for someone who never played the VN it is objectively a good anime to watch. There are far worse animes than LB. LB is easy in my top 10 animes.

Animes rarely if ever can adapt a VN in its entirety. This is due to how they are built, the majority of story oriented novels have multiple character routes which can't be shown in anime simultaneously and it results in chopped content when they try. Meaning the game is better, yep.

I shudder when i think what they did to Rewrite... the game was epic and honestly... the anime is one of the worst adaptions ever made if you ask me... ever!!!

I was so excited, man, you don't even know. I was giving it a chance, despite knowing full well for YEARS that an anime adaptation of Rewrite probably wouldn't work, given the nature of how the novel works. But I swear, they didn't even TRY. Two or three girls' "routes" were sort of, kind of adapted, up to a point, but only one episode each. Two other girls get no backstory whatsoever.

Akane literally looked like a villain because they didn't bother to explain why she was suddenly going insane and trying to destroy humanity. They sort of did... finally. Way later. But it wasn't a very good explanation of the whole Holy Woman thing. And Akane's route was the BEST route in that game!

That being said, I found the Little Busters anime tolerable to a point, but when they got to season two... there were things that weren't, and at times couldn't be, done properly.

Such as that feels moment in, I believe, Episode: Kyousuke, where Kyousuke and Riki are shown to be having the same exact thoughts about how difficult things have gotten, how Kyousuke used to ALWAYS be the one to let Riki hide behind him, and how Riki wanted a hug and Kyousuke wanted to hug him. My freaking HEART, and that simply wasn't able to be conveyed through animation.

Yeah, i couldn't wait when i heard about the adaption, as with you i knew deep down it wouldn't work (the games structure just couldn't be adapted well) but man it was a mess up, character stories just thrown out there, no story telling, no back story no nothing, as you say, Akane's role felt pointless and needlessly evil whilst in the game there is reason to this, yeah i could go on but it was a flop.

I didn't mind little busters, i wont say it was great but it was okay enough to watch through, just the attachment we build to characters in the game was lost, i know it isn't easy to make this in anime as they are limited to episodes where the game has hours it can dedicate to a single story but i felt like in the game, i was really attached, hurt, sad, happy, the emotions i felt going through the stories of... well all the stories was real and strong where as the anime was more of a 'oh' type feeling. As said, it wasn't awful but it wasn't no masterpiece by a long way

Yeah, honestly. Kurugaya's route was rushed as crap, and since they only focused on romance with Rin (which we knew they would, given), most of it was gone, which is sad because I liked her route the most. Kud's route suffered, too.

I find myself wishing Kyoani would've taken it. I know a lot of people feel the same, but some went so far as to refuse to watch it at all because of it. I wouldn't go that far, but man, I can't help but STILL wonder what could have been had Kyoani taken it up. It would've been amazing... :(
