Will this tear my heart out like Clannad?

I loved Clannad to the point where I got the anime after reading. Will this tear my heart to pieces too? I am asking since I don't know if I'm ready for it or not.

Probably. However this, in my opinion, is also more upbeat and comedic as well.

It's subjective based upon what you personally think is sad. In my opinion, there are few things that come close to the soul-crushing levels of depressing that Clannad reaches. Little Busters didn't punch quite as hard for me, but it wasn't far off either. However, as I said in my (edited) post above, this is more "fun" as well with lots of silly events.

Really, the only way to know for sure is to see it for yourself. And for what it's worth, I think I like this more than Clannad.

Well if you say it isn't soul crushing as Clannad then I take it is around the level of the little sad bits of Clannad then and not the heart wrenching whole story+after story. Might grab this soon.

No, that isn't what I said. I said that the depressing stuff in this game is comparable to what is in Clannad. Clannad made me more miserable, but Little Busters very much can induce sadness similar to Clannad After Story.

Oh, ok I misunderstood what you said previously. But if it is comparable then I will think twice of jumping on this immediately then but keep it in mind once I really get all the Clannad out of my system then. Cheers!

Multiple paths like clannad. And exactly like clannad, there is a final route you unlock after clearing all other scenarios.

Take everything about Clannad and make it based around friendship instead of love and you have Little Busters! Clannad was focused on the intimate relationship between Tomoya and the girls (individual relationships) whereas this is more focused on the friendship of the whole group. I would say they are equal in terms of sadness in the ending, however Clannad is a lot more sad throughout the whole thing where Little Busters! builds to something that isnt revealed until the very end.

It depends on what kind of relationships get you the most. Even though Clannad is considered to be sadder then Air, I connected with Air more on a personal level and cried far more over it. Little Busters has a lot of humor but also soul crushing sadness.

Little Busters is both sadder and overall superior to Clannad, so... yes.
