is there a way to alter automatic gear shifting?

before anyone shouts "well just use manual gears".
ok, i prefer automatic shifting for drifting, i use manual shifting in racing but for drifting prefer not having to think about it when having juggle throttle brakes and handbrake.
but my problem is the auto shifting never wants to downshift and slow corners it always seems to be 1 or 2 gears too high, so say the tight S at evisu track that needs to be taken in 4th, i brake and slow down alot to correct entry speed, but the auto shift doesnt downshift and wont even brake traction as im in high gear.
anyone help? is there a way to fix this?
