One Problem I have with the New Game: Mates.

Ya' know how in THIS Cattails, you almost certainly had a mate, where would that mate go in the new game? If you were lucky, and your mate got added in, good for you XD. Also lore-wise, if you had kittens, you might of just assumed they went off, OR your the kitten? Also, what HAPPENED to your mate (If you had one in the original game, If not, this discussion does not apply to you ._.) when you moved?? Did they die or something?? Did they decide to stay with their original colony?? Maybe they moved to the clans in Falcons old game: Warriors: Untold tales??
Basically, I have lots of questions rn regarding lore and relationships, and:
What about normal relationships??
Basically, pretend you were REALLY good friends with Krampy back in the old game, of course, you could build up that relationship again, but I kinda feel like that would be a bit weird and boring.
Things I'm hoping to see:
Maybe, you can create your own mate, if you have one in the Cattails game, one day Missy (My Current mate in-game) would give me a code to put in the squeal, so I would get her back? Same with kittens?
Maybe you could create your other colony members? Because, since you have seemed to have grown into like- a Adult Adult cat by now, you would probably have more Colony members-- and ---

I'm guessing all the original cats (at LEAST from the Forest Colony) will be in Wildwood, but you have to wait until later on in the game to meet them. Wildwood isn't exactly a continuation of Cattails (2017) either, so you'll have to either recreate your cats or make new ones anyway.

This is a stand alone sequel, based on a few of the characters (such as jag) from the previous game seeming a bit older, he actually talks about some things that happened. given the timeline he describes, this game takes place at least a few years later then the original. I don't want to get into spoilers, but odds are the answers to your questions, in no particular order is, you or your mate didnt leave, you and your mate left in a different group, your mate or you died from old age, the catastrophy that starts the game, the event that Jag mentions even. it's really up to you.

As for who you're playing, canonically, no one. you can choose to play as one of your characters from a previous file, you could make one of your kits, heck you could make yourself your mate, pretend you died, and missy became a renowned leader leading the cats to the new land XD might be fun.
Or you're an entirely new cat who maybe was trained by your previous character. or just a different cat with a different origin its really anything you want to come up with, but again, canonically though this game has events and characters relating to the previous game its not a direct sequel.

Though if i recall this game will allow you to edit things like artwork and dialog from the files, so you very well could remake your previous colony and mate if you wanted to.

Personally i'm working on a new file and trying to get all the achievements, including living 10 years. from there, once the sequel comes out i plan on making one of my kits, and pretending they left with my cats blessing to lead the new colonies in a new land, but being old and having a life in the old territories, refuses to go themself, and stays behind with the rest of their old colony. or perhaps died on the journey.

I ended up doing something along these lines, as my cat's mate in the original Cattails was Lyrus, who is not coming into Wildwood.
"The Feather Colony will be changed when Birdie is remade in Cattails Wildwood Story, since I want to make a kind of new thing with her. Especially since there will be a bunch of new cats who could possibly be her mate! I have one or two in mind. For story and stuff, I'll say that Lyrus left with the Forest Colony, and two of Birdie's kits, Rose and Tawny, went with him. May and Feather went with Birdie, and May ended up traveling alone to explore the world, while Feather, grown up now, lead the rest of the Feather Colony to a new home. Birdie continued traveling, until she found Coco, who offered to let her become the leader of a new colony. Anyway, the Feather Colony will not be returning for Birdie in Cattails Wildwood Story, so she will have a new Kingdom, Domain, Colony, or Clan to run!"
