Report a translation problem
The only real way is just trial and error and a lot of practice since there is no practice range level. The tick marks will vary on each rifle, and depending on the rifle's muzzel velocity, you may need to compensate more for gravity and wind. The Springfield and Nosin for instance have a really high muzzle velocity, meaning you dont really need to compensate for wind and gravity as much as you might think. The Kar however has a really low muzzle velocity, so it will require more compensation.
It might also help always shooting at the same zoom amount for a while, one tick fully zoomed in is a lot less than one tick at no zoom.
I would say just pick a rifle and stick with it. You will eventually get used to it and wont find it nearly as hard to work with.
although in a sniper game I was hoping to find - maybe - zeroing and a better exploiting of tick marks for elevation guesses .... ops, I forgot that we are not in Arma2, haha
There is no rangefinder in this game so the distance marks on the scopes don't help anyway. Therefore I only played hardest difficulty once and don't ever plan to again.
Had they included a rangefinder and a system where you could accuractely and reliably calculate where your shots would hit I'd probably have over 200 hours sunk into this game.

I played the first Sniper Elite back in 2005, really way too much, I'm still playing it today, and it's merely guess, try and die, try and die, all the time. The first one is way more difficult than this game. This version is good for the Custom difficulty you can set up, after you beat the campaign a first time - this difficulty setting will help you guess and find your sweet spot for every rifle - read the description of all of them, it helps a lot too.
But if you like to play Coop, I can help you to get the right aim in the game.

yes, I'd like to play coop as soon as I get a little more acquainted with the game (installed yesterday) .... in case, for inviting, do I have to add you as a Steam friend, then invite you once inside the game, or has this to be done all inside the game interface?
Then you can chat by typing, using Y or talk to me using V.
When playing Coop you can also open a "phone call" in the friends list. That way you can talk instead of typing all the time, or pushing V to talk.
It's all up to you :)

you say so because you didn't see me in single player missions: expecially in the one (that we played in multiplayer too) with a square with a pantheon facing a ruined three story building, and an intact tree story building facing a distant balcony (a bunker near a statue in the center of the square): to hit the sniper (strong wind leftward) roaming that high balcony, it took me as long as Jurassic to end .... I've gown a long white beard .... :-) , at least I didn't missed the balcony :-)
yet later, in the one where there is to exfil on the rooftops while a bunch of snipers are targeting, it has gone better (lethal hit on the second attempt, most of times... yet less wind)
just like I've said, I've liked a lot the game introducing elevation ad wind adjustment, nonetheless good hits are based on good guess than real mathematics ... that would be my dream in a SniperElite3 (think about a 300-500mt engagement area ... yup)

Nowadays they have all kind of rangefinders/gadgets to calculate everything in a few seconds, but the adjustments on the scope still need to be made manually.
In this game, if you use Full Tactical Assistance, you can use your binoculairs as a rangefinder. Before you tag the enemy, you'll see the distance "lighting up". That gives you a bit of an idea how high to aim with your scope.
In Medal of Honor you can earn points to get a rangefinder for sniping, but the sniping is far from realistic. MoH is more a "run to kill" game and as long as you don't have enough points to get all those other guns and gadgets, you're stuck with default weapons which really sucks.
If you play in Multiplayer with the default weapons you only get killed by the more powerfull weapons of the enemy and that can be very frustrating for alot of people.
Killing the opponents with only your default weapons is very difficult and you really need to be very persistent to go on with the game and not let frustration get in the way.
If Rebellion is smart (which I believe they are) they would make DLCs with more specialized guns (because there were alot of "Spec Ops" guns and stuff in WW2) which can be adjusted manually and also bigger maps.
That would make this game even more interesting.
If Sniper Elite would have the same sort of maps as in MoH, the game would really be awesome. But big maps with alot of detail tend to lag or even crash if your system doesn't meet the requirements.
