Class questions
Classes aren't really explained in detail online. Are a lot of moves and fighting styles/weapons class locked? Is byakugan and other eye moves class locked? No other class can do any healing at all besides support?

Thinking about getting the game.

They arent, but we all learn them step by step. For example tank can heal himself with few abilities, there accesory that can heal u after each k.o.
Alot of options, but probably not all of them giving u a right way.

Thanks, was thinking about playing tank but not being able to support at all in any other way, or being locked out of sharingan/byakugan.

Tank is very flexy class ^^ i saw many of them in S rank with sand shower or mizuki build, just look at ur way and ignore everyone else, there no ingame chat so nobody can't sht on u like in other mmo

The game mechanics are very restrictive, Byakugan can only be used for healer roles, Sharingan is limited only to the Kakashi version in that it appears in one eye and it's limited to Attack role, also all abilities other than Subsitution Jutsu's are limited to their respective roles. Weapon typed are also limited to their respective roles.

Knew about the weapon types like for tank, dojutsu being restricted is pretty lame though.

Have you played mmo or moba before? Imagine this, you have a role. That role has specific skills (jutsu in this case) which are there to give you the ability to play that role. So yes, weapons, jutsu and secret jutsu are restricted to each role. But every role has at least one skill that can do something similar to other roles so you can make a hybrid. Well apart from healing others, that is exclusive to heal types. So you can play defense type and use range damage jutsu instead of protective defense jutsu. But you cant use jutsu that belongs to a different role type. Meaning defense type does not have a fireball jutsu like range type, but there is a shark bomb which is something similar in case you want some range skill. Or attack type cant use fireball jutsu, but they have vanishinig rasengan which is similar etc... Though if you play a healer, you are expected to heal at least with one jutsu. If you are a defense type, you are expected to be able to secure points and or protect others. So please dont just go heal type and never heal :)

Yes I've played mmos before. Yes I know what a healer is...
Just asked if most moves are class specific like other mmos or is it slightly more customizable.

Yeah, all the moves are class specific. Just every class has at least a single skill that can do damage (be it short or long distance) or that can help them survive (be it a shield or teleport etc). And probably every class can be played offensively or defensively anyway. So it all depends on what suits your style. The real beauty of the game is, you start getting the real advantages of the class after many hours. So the skill ceiling is pretty high actually

That's good to know. For 50 I want to know about it before buying.

Pretty steep price but if it's fun it might be worth it.

except this isn't a moba, or a mmo, or even a RPG, this is pretty much Xenoverse for Naruto so why the hell do Roles exist? The former did team battles/multiplayer just fine, skills in said same could also be categorized the same way they are in this game but guess what anyone can choose to equip/learn them so long as they were the right race but race didn't designate role so NO it's a game mechanic/design fail.

Because they wanted to do a moba style game? Why can't it be? Moba games these days are linear and the same all over again. This game offers full 3d movement space without dumb lanes. The roles are there so the teamwork can be deeper. And not having classes would result in chaos. For every competitive game you absolutely NEED a way to distinguish others and what they can do. So either you could play only as mentors so locked up behind 3 same skills everytime, or you need to have classes. It's a team based game, not a 1v1v1v1v... game with no teamwork. Why do you think every successful competitive game like this has class system? Because there would be no way to counter team strategies since you would have 0 idea what to expect. It would just be a random fight. That's not how competitive games work. Random is cancer in online games.

I guess they just went for a more team based type of game where a healer would be needed. I have and played xenoverse 1+2 and in teams everyone just kinda does their own thing.

I'm fine with roles having unique moves like healing and shielding but having most moves class locked kinda sucks. No one can use byakugan besides healer? Why?

Because they decided noone should be able to buff the teams damage but healers.
tbh they might as well remove the heal role. Noone uses it to actually heal and those who do end up being shat on in every game because their team doesnt realize that when the dude with the slug dies you dont get to heal by touching the slug anymore.
Defenders at least try to utilize their speciality. Most of them at least use the sandshield, even if it's completely and utterly useless against any team that uses either Snake Thrust or Almighty Push. And some are pretty good with the Mudwall. But even then, most pick it for the Longsword (me included tbh) (Scythe+Sagemode+Damage Based EQ)
So roles dont actually say much. I think range might be the most unique based on the fact that you cannot parry their heavy attack because they are ranged. But all other classes are basically almost always played like Attack/Damage Dealers anyway.

Sounds like playing healer in Dc universe and overwatch. Not really surprised though. Having less class restrictions would be nice though so you can at least hybrid heal too.

I play healer every like 2nd or 3rd match and yea, most people dont care, but usually defense types actually try to help. If you have a problem surviving as a healer, either run dual heal eg. one for you to stay alive and the second one AOE, or smth that disables, like 8 trigram or the basic root... I just played a game and survived 3 attackers for a good minute lol. Heal types can be insanely unkillable with dual heal and equip for lower sub CD...
